CCM 131 Combine Two or More Stamps by Masking

Our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers today and for the next two weeks is one of masking. We want you to combine two or more images/stamps, either digitally or the old traditional way with a separately stamped mask.

131 Combine Two Stamps

I have combined four stamps to make my card. I started with Riley (the prima doll stamp) and then masked her off and stamped first one wing and then the other. I then masked the wings off as well, whilst keeping the doll mask in place and stamped the background with a Justrite background stamp. I obviously could just have stamped the doll and cut her out, but I wanted to give the impression of dimension without it being too thick to go through the post at the lower postage rate!

I coloured the doll stamp in with copics.

I matted the stamped image onto some gorgeous self adhesive glitter vinyl, and that in turn onto some embossed brown cardstock. I glittered her wings, and added some shading around her to lift her off the background. A small metal corner and birthday sentiment finished it off.

DV 98 Anything Goes

We have a brand new sponsor over at Dream Valley this time, Gerda Steiner Designs, and our challenge is a nice easy one to kick off our year there, Anything Goes.

DV 98 Anything Goes

For my card I stamped a Woodware Craft Collection stamp, Going to Seed, with black versafine. I then had my first foray into Brushos. Have to say I struggled to see where the pigment had landed and actually had a couple of completely disastrous attempts before this one, as I had put way too much pigment down and when I spritzed it, it looked like an explosion in a paint factory. I think perhaps that this image was too dark for it to show up, so next time I might attempt to do the brusho thing first and stamp my image later.

My sentiment is from a Paper Artsy JOFY set, which has a lot of useful words to make your own phrases, and my insects are stamped and cut with an Impression Obsession die and stamp set and coloured with copics. I added Ice Stickles to all the insects wings except the little ladybird. This is meant to look like Spring is springing, which I dearly wish it was!

ABC B Buttons & Bows

Our challenge at ABC for the next two weeks is Buttons and Bows, we want to see both buttons and bows. We are sponsored by Pink Gem Designs.

B Buttons & Bows

My image is called Angelica from our sponsor, and I have coloured her with copics and promarkers. My patterned papers are from Bo Bunny’s Country Garden stack. I had coloured Angelica in before I realised I couldn’t find my button box anywhere, and the only buttons I had to hand were pink! Lucikly I have some haberdashery dies and so I cut a few buttons to match the papers from those. My bow is also from a bow pad by Craftwork Cards. Corners are Joycraft.

I am entering this into:-

Creative Moments – #59 Anything Goes
Fab ‘n’ Funky – #242 Something New (image)
Inspiration Destination – #16 Anything Goes

CCM 130 Something Old, Something New

Our first challenge of 2015 at Crafty Cardmakers is Something Old, Something New.

130 Something Old Something New

I have used a Stamping Bella Stamp, Abigail the Artist for my ‘something new’, and coloured her with copics. My papers are from Bo Bunny, and the diecut ribbons are Our Daily Bread Borders. My ‘something old’ are the pearls, which I have had in my stash for a long time. I coloured these with some of the colours in the image to match. The sentiment is also part of the stamp set. I didn’t have any background paper that matched for the outside layer and the ribbon diecuts so I coloured my own with one of the greens Y11, I think, that I used in the image. The outside layer has also been glittered with glamour dust.

It’s my Daughter’s 31st Birthday today  and this card is for her. She is very arty and loves drawing etc. so as soon as I saw this image I thought of her. She is not much into frippery and girly, girly things, which is why there are no flowers or other embellishments apart from the pearls.

I am entering this into:

A Gem of a Challenge – #135 Something New (Stamp)
Aud Sentiments – #122 New (Stamp)
Crafty Calendar – Jan: What’s New (Stamp)
Fashionable Stamping – #89 Something New (Stamp)

TMC 05 Stencils

I hope you all had a good Christmas and a great New Year.

Welcome to our first challenge at The Mirror Crack’d for 2015. We want to see your creations that involve the use of stencils.

TMC 05 Stencils

I made a journal page. You will see I am still taking the cowards approach and making the page separately for inclusion later!!

Anyhow I stamped a Prima Bloom Girl stamp called Summer and embossed her in black. I then coloured her over with Drawing Gum so that when I did the background I wouldn’t need to worry about swiping my colours over. I then just randomly swept over the who background with three colours of Aquatint. Sorry I forgot to note down the names, but they were the yellows/greens.

I rubbed away the drawing gum, and was left with a white face to colour, which I did with copics.

The stencils I used are from Splodgeaway for the spirals, which I chose as they sort of went with the spiral corkscrews I had attempted to put in her hair! The bottom of the stencil I used a couple of Imagination Crafts stencils to create a floral border and a couple of thistles.

The dimensional bees are from a Prima Stamp N Add set, although two of them I improvised with things in my stash, instead of the metal findings provided cos they won’t last five minutes if I use them all on the first project and I am a tight old thing!

The bottom left has an old broken earring for the bees body and the top right, it’s a decoration for hair. As I recall you wind them in to the hair and then cry when later you have to break them free! Much better used on a craft project instead. The tiny bees are a stamp I got from Art Journey.nl.

The sentiment is the way I am feeling right now. I loathe the Winter. It goes on for far too long and I miss the sounds, smells and warmth of Summer. I hope it hurries back. Anyhow I created it on my pc with a font called CK Scratchy Box.

Finally I added a curly swirly border from Lindsay Mason’s Zendoodle range called Strings.

I am entering ‘Summer’ into:-

2 Creative Chicks – #22 Anything Goes
Altered Eclectics – Anything Goes
Anything But a Card – #43 New Beginnings (having bought loads of these stamps Summer is the beginning, I hope, of a series with them as the focus! )

ABC A Anything Goes

Happy New Year. I hope 2015 is a healthy and creative year for you all.
Welcome to our first challenge of the New Year at ABC
We are sponsored by All Dressed Up and I have used Little Flower Girl from them for my card. It does come with a sentiment, but I erased that prior to printing as I didn’t want to use it.
ABC A Anything Goes
My papers are from Craftwork Cards’ Refresher Pad. I coloured the image with my copics and used my white sharpie (by far the best white pen I have EVER used) to make some dotty patterns on her outfit.
Here is a close up of the image and flowers
ABC A Anything Goes Image
The flowers and fibres are all from my stash and mainly came from Wild Orchid Crafts for the flowers and Anna Marie Designs for the fibres and small flower heads.
The crystals are body art from Poundland! I coloured them with one of the greens I used to colour the image.
I went all around the edges with Martha Stewart green glitter glue.
I am entering this into:-
All Dressed Up – #26 Anything Goes
Card Mania – #64 Make It Sparkle
Digistamps4Joy – #107 Add Glitter
