ABC N for Not Just One

At ABC this time we want to see your projects with at least three embellishments on them. We are sponsored by Lili of The Valley and also by Stamp Fairy.

I used a LOTV image for my card which I bought a while back and hadn’t even inked up! Oh the shame, lol

ABC N 2

This is the other twin’s card I mentioned in my CCM post on Monday.

I started with cutting my base card with a Go Kreate Die and then I used the same green mottled paper that I used on Monday’s card for Lexi’s Creations. I think it came from Craft Creations but am not sure as a friend gave it to me with several similar sheets in different colours. Anyhow it matched some of the colours in my main background paper which was from Crate Paper and which I have been jealously guarding for quite a few years now!

I coloured my image with Promarkers, and a white gel pen for the white dots on the hats and watering can. I also coloured the little hat embellishment with one of the colours I used on the image, and made dots on it with the same white gel pen. The ribbon embellishment is a length of guipure lace in purple overlaid with mauve ribbon roses, and the other embellishment is just some baker’s twine with a dazzle dot in the middle.

CCM #91 Choose Three Different Techniques From ………

  • Embossing (wet or dry)

  • Distressing

  • Masking

  • Making your own flowers

  • Paper piecing/patchwork

  • Shrink plastic

  • Please pick at least three of the techniques from the list above, for our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this time,  and use them on your creation. Please also tell us which three you have used. You can use more than three if you like, but you must use at least three to qualify for one of our lovely prizes which this time are a fabulous frantage set from Sir Stampalot and 5 Digis from Milk Coffee Digital Stamps.

    CCM 91 Techniques

    For my card I chose:-

    Embossing - Dry

Distressing - Edges and Frantaging to background papers

    Shrink Plastic - Happy Birthday

I cut out a shaped card with my GoKreate dies and then cut a purple frame, and the patterned paper, which was free in a magazine. The white base layer I ran through one of the new Sue Wilson embossing folders, and then lightly ink dusted some Broken Glass DI across it. After I had glued my purple frame in place I frantaged randomly across the which embossed background and frame. I also did the same with the floral mat. I also distressed all the edges with the Tim Holtz distresser.

My image is from Magnolia and I coloured her with promarkers. The clouds are created with Broken Glass DI and a cloud template. The top flower was from my stash as were the flowers in the bouguet at the bottom which I secured and then added a small seam binding ribbon bow to.

The Happy Birthday was cut from shrink plastic which I inked over with some tri coloured ink (not to be recommended, either Stazon or I should have used brilliance and waited for it to dry, because after I had heated it the ink started coming off on my hands!) This was, to be honest, a nightmare to shrink as the words already had curly letters and they just wanted to curl up on themselves; so I probably wouldn’t do the same again.

I made this for a friend, who has a twin sister, so look out for a smilar shaped card with the ABC Challenge due up on Wednesday! I figured twins might like the same shape but a completely different card……

We are sponsored by Fairy Dust Crafts with the winner getting a choice of 5 digis from the store.

    Lexi 90 Black White

My card has been made for a friend who is a Beef Farmer’s Wife, so immediately I saw this Mo Manning image, Moo, I knew it was for her! I have coloured Daisy, my name for her, in promarkers. The background paper I created myself as I couldn’t find anything I liked the look of online that resembled cowhide! I just had a few basic splat type shapes and I resized them, re-orientated them and then just placed them in what I hoped was a random pattern. After all cows aren’t uniform.

The grass, and branch were cut from some paper a friend gave me which is duo toned green, and the die for the grass is a Joycrafts Vintage Flourishes Die and the branch is Memory Box die. The little green gems were sent to me by a kind friend and the flowers are from my stash.

I really wish I could afford a light box for my photography as I feel my cards would benefit from proper lighting! Maybe one day, lol

Dream Valley 56 No Squares Allowed

Our challenge at Dream Valley this fortnight is ‘no squares allowed’ and we are sponsored by Crafty Ribbons with a £10 voucher.

    DV 56 No Squares

I had in mind to make a suncatcher, but do you ever get one of those disastrous days when no matter what you attempt to do it goes wrong? Well I had one of those. I wasted two sheets of heat resistant acetate at the cutting stage, as I hadn’t realised that the first one was not fully cut through and tore it, and the second one it slipped before I put it through my HappyCut, which I didn’t discover until it came out the other end. Then I had a really successful one, except I stamped and embossed in gold and it didn’t show up!!! Waste of acetate there then. So I tried it in other colours and accidentally used my heatgun and dried the ink before I remember to put the embossing powder on! At that point I decided to turn it into a round card instead and set about cutting out a circle of white card. The first one I stuck the die in place with tape and when I tried to remove it, it tore a layer off of the card. The next one was perfect, but the tack on my tack ‘n’ peel had lost it’s umph and the stamp, fully inked, fell off the block right into the middle of the card!

At this point I was ready to throw the lot out of the window. Instead I went and washed my block with the tack’n’peel on it and cleaned up the stamps, had a cuppa and a nap and when I got up I tried again.

Finally success! I did also manage to salvage a small bit of the heat resistant acetate and stamped two butterflies and a few dragonflies, although the dragonflies didn’t look right on the design so I have put them aside for something else. I shall no doubt put them somewhere safe so that when I want them I have no idea where they are! I coloured the backs of the butterflies with promarkers in Island Lagoon and Marine.

Light is pretty awful here so you can’t see, but everything was heat embossed. I used detail clear powder over the coloured inks.

My stamps, by the way, are from Elusive Images, which is now called Chocolate Baroque, and the sentiment is from Inkylicious, and the card shape was cut with a Spellbinders Grand Decorative Circle Die.

Anyhow, if I haven’t bored you so far, I am entering this into the following:-
