CCM #226 Add Some Texture

Our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers today, and hosted by Jackie is to Add Some Texture.

I started with a fairly plain patterned paper (from my stash, no idea whose it is!) and on that I stencilled through again (unknown) in orange shades a sun in the background. On the opposite side I stamped one of those multi layer trees where the canopy is separate so you can choose what season you want to make it.  The grasses etc. were just stamps in my stash.

The elephants are from a Sweet Poppy stencil, and I first stencilled through some distress inks and when it was dry I re-applied the stencil and went through with transparent texture paste so that it gave dimension whilst keeping the colour underneath. I then fussy cut them out and stuck them onto the card with pinflair glue gel. Not the world’s best cutting! I could have made a better job of the baby elephant’s trunk!

Men are so difficult to create for, and this was for my Son-in-Law.

DV #194 Add A Doily and A Brad

Our challenge today at Dream Valley, sponsored by All Dressed Up, is to Add a doily and a brad.

We were given some lovely All Dressed Up images to work with and I chose, Pretty as Picture.

I coloured her in with Copics and then die cut her using a Little Darlings Pierced Oval Easel Die which I also used to diecut the tag for the sentiment.

I didn’t have any actual doilies, or rather I couldn’t find them so I used a lovely doily die from  and die cut that from Navigator white paper, which is also the paper I printed the image on and also diecut all the corners from. The corners are a die from Joycrafts, 6002/0356.

The butterfly brad has been in my stash for a very long time! I don’t use brads anywhere near as much as I used to so it was nice to have this challenge and remind myself just how many pretty brads I actually have!

The paper and blue/turquoise matting is from Fab Scraps’ Floral Charms range.

CCM #225 Winter

We have a very easy challenge today at Crafty Cardmakers. To ease us all back in this is the perfect spot to put all your unblogged cards you created for Christmas. The only criteria is that although they can look Christmassy (Wintry) they must not actually say that they are Christmas, so no Merry, Happy or other Christmas greeting, and NO SANTAS either please!

My card was created with a Find It die for the frame, and some Card-io stamps for the deer.

I used Clarity’s masks to create my sky which I made with various blue inks. I used several different brands as none of them had the correct colour I wanted. The snowy stars were made with a sticky stencil I made myself from Tim Holtz’s Snowy Stars Die and a Clarity blank mask sheet, and Brilliance white ink.

To accentuate the snowy hills I edged them with glitter.

DV #193 Anything Goes

To start the New Year at Dream Valley we have a nice easy theme of Anything Goes, and we are sponsored by LeAnn’s World 101. I used her ‘Rainy Day Suzie’ for my card.

193 Anything Goes

I coloured the image with Faber Castell polychromos pencils. I hadn’t used them in a very long time and enjoyed dusting them off!

My background patterned paper is from the Cut, Mat, Create paper pad from Heartfelt creations, one of the 6” panels in the pad, and the purple matting card is from the Topsy Turvy range from Create and Craft.

The splashes were cut with a freebie die I received in a magazine. Years ago, and I do mean, a lonnnnnnggg time ago I bought some sort of thick mylar film. It’s got a weird look to it, like layers of transparent film have been stuck together and it creates movement in the film. I diecut two of the die splashes and then coloured them with a blue copic pen. You can’t see the movement in the photograph so well as you can when the light catches it in real life. The sentiment came from the same magazine freebie.

The patterned circular die is from Sue Wilson, Calabria.
