DV #85 Inspired by a Song, Film or Book

Our challenge at Dream Valley for the next two weeks is Inspired by a Song, Film or Book, and we are sponsored by Crafty Sentiments with 3 of their lovely images.

I have been inspired by Bob Dylan’s classic Blowing in the Wind. I used the House Mouse CDrom from Joanna Sheen to create a nice quick card.

85 Inspired by ...

I printed out the main parts and then just added a couple of decoupaged flowers on top and some extras just scattered around, which I glittered, and I created a sentiment from one of the other toppers on the cd, by moving the Wishes from the side of Birthday to underneath it as it fitted better.

Hobby Cutz 54 Pink

We have a nice easy challenge this week at Hobby Cutz, use pink!

We are sponsored by Aurora Wings and I have used one of her gorgeous images for my card called Star Dancer.

54 Pink

Using the sketch from Papertake Weekly and some lovely new papers from First Edition’s It’s A Girl pad I came up with the above. I have coloured her with copics, and glittered all her clothes and swirly bits.

DV #84 Monochrome

We have a monochrome challenge for you this time around at Dream Valley. We are sponsored by The Paper Shelter with an amazing $20 gift voucher!

84 Monochrome

I used some Bo Bunny paper from their lush Enchanted Garden pad along with a small piece of Craftwork Cards’ Refresher paper, and also the diecut flowers that came with the pad. The paper bow is from the same range of paper and I used a child’s rose hair clip as the centre of the bow, along with a tiny crystal dazzler. The image is from Milk Coffee stamps and I coloured her with my copics. The diecuts are top Memory Box and bottom Tattered Lace cut from a different sheet of paper in the Refresher pad. The little glass gems were a gift, but I think they originated from Kanban when they were still in existence!

ABC N Nautical

Over at ABC we want to see your nautical/ocean themed creations. We are sponsored by Wild Orchid Crafts, with a £10 gift voucher, who happen to have a sale on at the moment, so I suggest you go and fill your boots like I just did. I couldn’t help it, the flowers just fell off the virtual shelves into my basket!

N Nautical

I used a LOTV mermaid image for my card, which I coloured with copics, and then glittered them with glamour dust. The lovely seaweed background is a Sue Wilson embossing folder, and the diecuts are from Joy Crafts. Sentiment, charms and paper ribbon are all from my stash, and the sentiment is a personal impressions stamp.

CCM 117 Going Round in Circles

We have two fabulous sponsors at Crafty Cardmakers for the next couple of weeks. The first is Hobby Art Stamps with a gorgeous combination of a stamp set and embossing folder, see the main blog for details, and also $12 to spend in Di’s Digistamps online store.

117 Circles

I went a bit mad on the circles theme with my card. My paper from Basic Grey is a series of different sized circles, I cut my image with a spellie circular die, and the linked circles are from memory box. The flowers and ferns were in my stash. I coloured my Wild Rose Studios stamp with promarkers and copics, and added a little wink of stella to the dots on her headscarf. Sometimes the wink of stella shows the colour underneath and irritatingly sometimes it takes over and appears silver! This time it’s appearing silver, despite the fact that I coloured the dots with a pale pink promarker!

I am entering my circles card into the following:-

Crafty Catz – #234 Inspired by a Song  … like the circles that you find, in the ‘Windmills of Your Mind’

Lexi’s Creations 118 For a Friend

We are sponsored by Fairy Dust Crafts for this time’s challenge, ‘For a Friend’.

SAM_0784c

I have made a nice flat card as it’s going in the mail internationally! I used my brand new Spellies’ Romantic Rectangles 2 dies, to cut both the card itself and the lovely lacey mat with the image on. The image is one of those uber cute and excellently priced small stamps from HOTP.  It also has a sentiment that says the same as the top sentiment, but because I wanted to add the Friend sentiment I printed them out from my pc instead. Just a hint of colour was added to the butterflies and I inked the edges of both the background card and the lacey mat with memento Lilac Posies ink.

I am entering this into the following:-

Card and Scrap – #77 CAS

Hobby Cutz #48 No Designer Paper

Our challenge this week at Hobby Cutz is no designer paper. We are sponsored by The Stamping Chef and we were lucky enough to get some of their images to work with. I chose Fairy Nuff for my card.

HC 50 No Designer Paper

My background was made with a Sheena Douglass embossing folder, and I embossed the pattern onto centura pearl card and then turned it round to the white debossed side and coloured it with distress inks from the limited edition range. I used Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Shaded Lilac and Peacock Feathers. After I inked the card I went over the insides of the flowers with a Wink of Stella Pen.

My intention was to colour the image with the same colours with the distress markers, but try as I might I don’t seem to be able to find a cardstock that you can print on and then blend the distress markers out. The videos on Youtube make it look so easy but I find that where you apply the colour is where it tends to stick and I don’t find them blendable at all. I am sure it’s just a matter of getting some good cardstock that doesn’t ‘grab’ the colour, so if any of you can recommend some, preferable printable, that would be fabulous!

Anyhow, as the DMs weren’t working for me I dragged out my trusty Prismacolour pencils and coloured the image in with them, blending out the colour with gamsol and a paper stump. The fancy mat is from spellbinders and I used the DM’s here and spritzed the colour on with a hand pumped spritzing tool, I also did the same surrounding the image, but with a promarker.

The fabulous scrolly corners are from Hobby Cutz, and I used Pinflairs Buff It to colour them a lovely teal colour to blend in with the colours already used. The wings have been gone over with the same Wink of Stella pen to give them some sparkle and her hair I used a White Sharpie Marker to create the dots.

Do go over to the Hobby Cutz blog and take a look at the gorgeous new designs that Kobie will soon be adding to the webshop… I hope to be getting my hands on some of them really soon!

ABC M Monochromatic

Our current challenge at ABC is Monochromatic and we are sponsored both by the fabulous Kenny K and also by Marker Pop.

ABC M Monochromatic

I’ve used a Sassy Cheryl image of Charlie under her umbrella which I coloured with copics and promarkers. The diecuts are spellbinders and the sentiment was added from my computer with safmat.

Apologies for my photo which is a little blurred!
