TMC 05 Stencils

I hope you all had a good Christmas and a great New Year.

Welcome to our first challenge at The Mirror Crack’d for 2015. We want to see your creations that involve the use of stencils.

TMC 05 Stencils

I made a journal page. You will see I am still taking the cowards approach and making the page separately for inclusion later!!

Anyhow I stamped a Prima Bloom Girl stamp called Summer and embossed her in black. I then coloured her over with Drawing Gum so that when I did the background I wouldn’t need to worry about swiping my colours over. I then just randomly swept over the who background with three colours of Aquatint. Sorry I forgot to note down the names, but they were the yellows/greens.

I rubbed away the drawing gum, and was left with a white face to colour, which I did with copics.

The stencils I used are from Splodgeaway for the spirals, which I chose as they sort of went with the spiral corkscrews I had attempted to put in her hair! The bottom of the stencil I used a couple of Imagination Crafts stencils to create a floral border and a couple of thistles.

The dimensional bees are from a Prima Stamp N Add set, although two of them I improvised with things in my stash, instead of the metal findings provided cos they won’t last five minutes if I use them all on the first project and I am a tight old thing!

The bottom left has an old broken earring for the bees body and the top right, it’s a decoration for hair. As I recall you wind them in to the hair and then cry when later you have to break them free! Much better used on a craft project instead. The tiny bees are a stamp I got from Art Journey.nl.

The sentiment is the way I am feeling right now. I loathe the Winter. It goes on for far too long and I miss the sounds, smells and warmth of Summer. I hope it hurries back. Anyhow I created it on my pc with a font called CK Scratchy Box.

Finally I added a curly swirly border from Lindsay Mason’s Zendoodle range called Strings.

I am entering ‘Summer’ into:-

2 Creative Chicks – #22 Anything Goes
Altered Eclectics – Anything Goes
Anything But a Card – #43 New Beginnings (having bought loads of these stamps Summer is the beginning, I hope, of a series with them as the focus! )

  1. Lin, I have had a pristine, unused white art journal sitting at the side of my crafting table since last Christmas (that's December 2013!!). Every time I go to do something in it I bottle out... Maybe this will be the year I have a break through! Love your page, especially the dimensional bees...
