CCM #249 Black and white

Our new challenge for you today over at Crafty Cardmakers is Black and White.

I have used some lovely black and white papers from a company called Bearly Mine which sadly stopped producting when the stupid VAT rules changed a few years back for digital only companies! Anyhow I picked 4 of the designs and I was going to print them and then the cut them down and make them into a set of four papers cut into quarters, but in order to save both ink and paper I did the work on the pc instead. So I cut each paper down to a quarter of it’s size and then overlaid them onto a black background and then just printed it as one sheet. I matted this layer onto a white square card.

The image is from D’arcy’ Diaries, again another company that stopped producing these lovely digis a few years back. This image was perfect for a black and white challenge I thought. I die cut it with my new Crafters Companion vintage lace dies, as I also did for the black matting diecut layer.

The top sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and the Sister word I created on my pc.

DV #217 Spots and/or Dots

Today’s challenge at Dream Valley, sponsored by Crafty Sentiments is Spots and/or dots.

I have used our Sponsor’s cute image, With Love, which I coloured with copics. I cut it out with a lovely die from Little Darlings. The card itself was made by using the larges of Sue Wilson’s Lavish Accented Octagon dies. I cut two pieces of white card with the largest die and stuck them together down the left hand side to create a card base. Onto that I matted the lovely heart layer from the same die set. The White layer, and the patterned layer of my lovely new Tracey Hay papers was cut with Sue’s Double Stitched Octagon dies.

I cut a strip of white card, and the heart base layer navy card, and then printed the Happy Anniversary sentiment to look a bit like a ribbon which went across the middle of the card and under the image.

I added some enamel dots over some of the dots on the paper to give it some more dimension.

CCM #248 Anything Goes

Good morning everyone and Happy New Year. I hope you have had a nice restful Christmas and a good start to 2020.

Our first challenge for this year over at Crafty Cardmakers is a really easy one, Anything Goes

I started with the elephants, which are a trio of stamps from Shirly Cohen, under the brand Studiolight.

I had previously used the distressed ink backgrounds that I stamped the elephants on for something else, but kept the offcuts and they were perfect for the size of these little fellas. I made an effort to pick different coloured areas of the offcuts so each of the elephants would be different. I also then restamped them again around their ear level so that I could use the Polkadoodles backing paper I was using on the rest of the design to co-ordinate, for their ears.

I added the elephants with foam tape to give them a bit of dimension.

I printed the sentiment on my pc and cut it out with a Little Darlings’ Tag Die, and the larger sized die for the matching matting layers. Just a layer of black card behind the two mats and in between the layers of tag die finished it off.
