CCM 90 - April Showers Bring May Flowers

Our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this fortnight is hosted by Tracey who chose the team April Showers Bring May Flowers. Tracey wants us to use a rain related image, so ducks in a puddle or children splashing in a puddle, people sheltering under an umbrella etc, and at least two flowers. I bet when she came up with the idea she had no idea that the April Showers in question would be snow showers!

CCM 90 Main

I saw the embossing folder used in the background here, from Crafters Companion and thought how it would make a fabulous flowery background. So first I cut out a frame using my Go Kreate dies, and then put the whole thing back together and ran it through my machine with that folder. You can see where the missing frame went in the next pic.

CCM 90 Inside

Using Squeezed Lemonade and Peacock Feathers DIs I inked over the raised flowers in random patterns.

My image is from Sassy Cheryl and I colured her with copics and promarkers.

CCM 90 Image

Hopefully you can see on the above pic that I used Glossy Accents to highlight the puddle, the umbrella, her goggles and the rain drops. I edged around the card with Peacock Feathers and matted it onto plain white card.

CCM 90 Angle

The flowers were all in my stash luckily in the right shades, but the pearls I coloured with some of the shades of copic I had used in the image.

Lexi’s Creations 89 - Happy Birthday

Our challenge at Lexi’s Creations this time is a nice easy one, Happy Birthday. We are sponsored by My Heart Pieces with three of their digis on offer to our random winner.

Lexi 89

My card was made for a special forum friend, using one of the gorgeous Dilly Beans big eyed girls, in this case the Mermaid.

Lexi 89 Image

I coloured her in with a combination of copics/promarkers and for her tail fin and bra, crystal laquer 3d colour pens. The sea die is from Memory Box, and I used the waste from that die to dot around the rest of the card.

My papers were 12” ones in my stash, don’t remember the company, and also from the Promises collection from Nitwit Designs.

Lexi 89.2

I cut the card myself with a fabulous set of Go Kreate dies. I decorated the inside with the same papers and a Birthday Sentiment stamp, but forgot to get a clear picture of the sentiment!

Who didn’t eat all the pies?

I just thought I would share with you some pics of my naughty little pooch.

SAM00812   SAM00815

Her sweet innocent little face is looking up at me with complete denial in her eyes, but even though she didn’t eat any pies, it’s pretty obvious she stuck her snout in some spaghetti bolognaise‘

SAM00810

It’s pretty difficult to be cross with them, even if they did scarf down your dinner, when they look this cute! Bless her, she had no idea that the evidence would be plastered all around her naughty little chops. Maybe she was just going for the new ‘Ombre’ look in hair colouring and toning her mouth area in with the rest of her head.

By the time I had taken the photographs it had really stained her fur and it took me several scrubs of her face to get it clean.

Dream Valley 55 Things With Wings

This time at Dream Valley we want to see your projects include things with wings. We are sponsored by Digital Delights By Louby Lou with a $5 gift voucher.

DV 55 Main

I used a couple of images from Tiddly Inks that I won in another challenge, incorporating the flowers from one set ‘Emma’s Flowers’ , behind my little girl ‘Flutterby Annabelle’. I printed it onto watercolour card and then coloured with promarkers. You would think that watercolour card would suck up the ink but strangely it doesn’t seem to, although it does spread out easily as you can see on her tummy. I used chalk to make the cloudy sky.

I also used a sketch from Seems a Little Sketchy to create the card. The papers are all from Barely Mine from their Spring Surprise Digital Paper pack. That’s the beauty of digital papers, they are there when you want them and you can print as much or as little as you want. For this design I added approximately two inches wide of each of 5 different papers onto one A4 sheet in my graphics program and printed it out. I realised afterwards I could actually have merged them as one paper digitally, but I did actually cut each strip out and glue it down separately.

The scruffy lilac stitches are faux and you can see my hand was very shaky on some of them!

DV 55 Image

The butterfly is a Magnolia Doohickey die and the ribbon was from my stash. Mat behind the image is a spellbinders die.

Lexi Creations 88 Add Lace or Ribbon

We are sponsored today at Lexi’s Creations by Fairy Dust Crafts, and our challenge to you is to add lace or ribbon.

Lexi 88

I have gone for a very simple design using a lovely new embossing folder from Crafters’ Companion’s Embossalicious range. They have some lovely 8” and A4 folders if you want to do larger cards and this is from their 8” range. The top and bottom, as you can see are slightly different patterns.

I used some lovely double sided pearl card. I have actually inked the embossing folder before putting it through my Happy Cut, with a triple coloured inkpad from Tsukineko. I also went over it with Peacock Feathers DI when I finished. Sadly, neither are showing up in the photograph. I think perhaps a non pearl card might be better if you want to ink either before or after as I suspect it didn’t ‘take’ the ink terribly well.

The ribbon, a lush turquoise velvet was from my stash as was the prima flower which I added a metal floral brad to the centre of. It’s all matted onto turquoise mirri card.

ABC L for Lovely Lace

We are sponsored today by My Favourite Things

ABC L Lace 2

I used Nitwit Designs Paper Pad Promises from Lili of the Valley for my papers. I also have the digital kit for this because it’s so pretty I couldn’t bear to think what I would do when I used it all!

I cut my own card blank from Kanban card with a large scalloped square die from Go Kreate. I love their large dies, they are so versatile and save a fortune in pre made dies.

My image is from Sassy Cheryl and she is called No 2 Pencil and a Dream! Strange name, lol. I coloured her with copics and promarkers, in soft blues. Then I used shimmer chalk to go around the image to take the white off the card. The lace was from my stash as were the little dragonflies and the blue glass gems. I made the floral embellishment from a combination of dies from our sponsor My Favourite Things or DieNamics as I know them (the flourish die) and Boss Kut flowers, which I have not used in ages.

I am entering this into the following challenges:-

Dream Valley 54 Happy Birthday

My apologies to my team mates for putting this post up late.

Dream Valley’s challenge to you this fortnight is to create something to celebrate a birthday and we are sponsored by Bugaboo with a huge $21 to spend in their fabulous store.

DV 54 Birthday 1

My card was made with Basic Grey’s Kioshi papers and a Mayz Art image called Outlawz. I have coloured her in with a combination of copics/promarkers.

DV 54 Image

The lovely filigree border die is from Memory Box, called Tessatina Border, and the little flowers on the image are the waste from the centre strip of that border die. The outside strips give a more square waste.

54 Angle

The corner is also from Memory Box called Macarena Corner.

54 Banner

The banner is from Whimsy Stamps and uses both their stamps and dies, and the dangly bit is an old earring that the post broke off of so was rendered useless as an earring, but I thought went well colourwise and made a nice charm.

I am entering this into the following:-

Card Mania - #18 Punches and/Or Diecuts

C.R.A.F.T. - #201 Recycle (My earring/charm)

CCM 88 Humour

As today is the 1st April and April Fool’s Day, our hostess Suze decided to choose humour for her theme at Crafty Cardmakers this week. Suze would like to see your humourous creations. That can be funny/amusing images, or funny quotes. Anything that you find amusing share with us.

We are sponsored by Di’s Digi Downloads with a $10 gift voucher and also by Hobby Art Stamps with a prize of two stamps, which you can see here.

CCM 88 Humour

I used another Bugaboo image for my card, she is one of the Gus and Stella range, this one called Aged To Perfection, and they come with amusing comments as well, but I made my own version of a Stephen Fry quotation. This is intended for my older Sister. Wish me luck when I hand it over!

The background is another of the gorgeous new Embossalicious folders from Crafters Companion, onto which I have matted some paper from the Papermania Lucy Cromwell stack. Stella has been coloured with promarkers and the sentiment was printed on my pc. I know her skin is a little sallow, but in my experience ladies of Stella’s Age didn’t used to come with Essex tans! The gorgeous Prima flower is from my stash.

Lexi’s Creations Punches and/or Dies

Our challenge at Lexi’s Creations this time is to use your punches and/or dies. We are sponsored by the lovely Joanna Sheen with a £10 voucher for her store.

Lexi 87

I started off with some plain centura cardstock which I ran through the HappyCut with a Marianne Corner die, which leaves a cut out area as opposed to making a corner diecut. I backed this with some more centura pearl in blue, to match the other colours I had used.

The pink swirls are from DieNamics and Memory Box, and the rose is from my stash.

The image is a stampendous stamp, which I stamped in blue and embossed with the blue powder from one of the Frantage Encrusted Jewel Kits. I coloured it with copics and promarkers. The mat was from a HUGE collection of Kanban foiled diecut mats which I would need to use on virtually every card until the end of time to get through. So rather than have them sitting there telling me off for buying them, I have decided to start diecutting them myself as the shapes provided are not that useful to me. I used a Spellbinder die to cut this mat out.

I am entering this into the following:-

ABC K for Kraft

Our challenge at ABC this week is Kraft, and we are sponsored by the lovely Bugaboo with 7 of their fabulous digis as the prize.

I have used one of their digis, called Sunflower for my card.

K Kraft

I only had a very small amount of Kraft card left in my stash and I printed my image onto that, and then coloured her with copics and promarkers.

The kraft on the card itself I printed, to go with some Basic Grey paper and some other similarly toned paper in my stash. The centre is some plain cardstock which I ran through my Happy Cut with an Embossalicious folder, and then sanded it back.

The daisies are resin flowers I had in my stash and I left one in the colour it came in and the other I coloured with copics.

The swirls are cut into DCWV adhesive paper, with Whimsey Dies.

I am entering this into the following:-
