DV #128 Girlie

Happy Easter everyone. Today I am sharing a card I made for our challenge over at Dream Valley. Today’s challenge is entitled ‘Girlie’ so all your lovely feminine projects will be welcome. We are sponsored by the fabulous All Dressed Up, and it is their gorgeous image, Flyaway Butterfly, that I have used for my card.

DV 128 Girlie

I coloured my image with copics, and then added some glitter pen to the butterly and her hairband of flowers.

The background is a Sheena Douglass embossing folder which, after embossing, I picked out the flowers and coloured with watered down Color Burst to match the colours in the image. I also went over them with the same glitter pen I used for the image.

The butterflies are a Joycrafts Die, which I die cut from some card I had painted over with some of the colours I used to paint the background flowers.

Pink shimmer ribbon and pink mirri heart paper which I used for matting from my stash.

I am entering this into:-

DV #127 All About Birthdays

It seems ages since I blogged for Dream Valley, but I am delighted to be back! Our challenge this time is All About Birthdays, which should give you lots of scope. We are sponsored by Dies to Die For with a fabulous £15 voucher to their store.

127 All About Birthdays

My card was a birthday card for an old friend who has a penchant for cats, so I thought this might amuse her. The images are all from Katzelkraft, from the Les Chats Russes and Les Drole Accesories sets, apart from the balloons which are from Tim Holtz’s Crazy Things stamps. I coloured them all with distress inks. My background was created by inking through two stencils, firstly the patchwork triangular shapes stencil with pink and blue inks and then through the Ginkgo, Designs By Ryn stencil with a green DI. I added some glitter fabric covered wire to the balloons and gave them all some dimension with 3d glue gel.

I am entering this into:-

CCM 159 Go Green

Our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers for the next couple of weeks is Go Green, in honour of St. Patricks Day!

I’m a day late with mine because time ran away from me.

159 Go Green

I started with a sheet of plain green scrapbook paper and then using a Crafters Workshop stencil, Mod Spirals, I added Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink. Leaving the Mod Spirals stencil in place I placed a Prima stencil, Bubbles, over the top and then inked through with Lucky Clover DI. The flowers and grass border were started in a similar fashion, although instead of pre-coloured paper I created my own colour with Spectrum Noir Aquatints, which I stencilled over. I stamped and cut out the three flowers, the middle one I stamped and cut three times so I could layer it up. I used a Spectrum Noir sparkle pen in clear to make the flowers shimmer. The centres of the flowers are dazzlers in mauve just to give a bit of contrast in the mainly green design. The stalks were made with glass flatbacked beads (thank goodness for Hougie fine liner glue!), and the grass is a Sheena Douglass die. Sentiment from Spellbinders. It is matted onto black and then a white embossed background.

This is a slightly different pic because of the light, not sure which I prefer! I guess the real life look is somewhere between the two. Oh how I wish I had a proper photographer’s light box!
