DV 103 Ribbon/Lace and Pearls

Our challenge at Dream Valley this time is Ribbon/Lace and Pearls and we are sponsored by All Dressed Up. I have used one of their gorgeous images for my card called Love Spring.

Ribbons_Lace Pearls

I coloured the image with copics. The papers are a combination of Craftwork Cards, at the back and Kaisercraft at the front, with some plain blue card from my stash for the mats and lace edging across the centre strip. I mounted my image onto foam pads and edged it from behind with a pretty little gathered lace ribbon. I used a pearl string to edge all the way around the card and made a bow from some ribbon I dyed with copics. The little birds and bird feeder are a Joanna Sheen die.

CCM 135 Spring

Our challenge for the next couple of weeks at Crafty Cardmakers is Spring has Sprung. We would love to see your Spring related creations.

135 Spring

I have made my card from Craftwork Cards’ supplies, the topper element was a freebie from Create and Craft and the paper is from their Truly Scrumptious pad. I used the matching candy to the pad to decorate the tree on the topper, and glazed them with diamond glaze. I also glittered the leaves and the other flowers and all around the edges of both the backing paper and the topper. The little bunnies, who have been doing what bunnies do in the Spring are a combination of Joanna Sheen and Memory Box dies.

ABC F for Festive

Our challenge at ABC for the next couple of weeks is F for Festive. We will accept, Birthday, Easter or Christmas as a festive card. I have chosen birthday for mine. We are sponsored by Magnolia-licious.

F Festive

I cut the card base and the patterned paper mats with a Go Kreate die. Luckily the embossed mats which were pre-cut, pretty much matched the shape of my Go Kreate dies. I inked my embossed mats to tone in with the multicolour patterned paper. My image is from Lili of The Valley and I have coloured her with the same distress inks that I used to ink the two embossed mats on the card. The patterned papers are from Craftwork Cards and the embossed mats are also from Craftwork Cards. I thought the emboss pattern looked similar to the multicolour pattern on one of my papers, which both came from the Refresher pad.

My flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts, apart from the tiny purple ones which were from Anna Marie Designer. The butterflies are all Doo Hickey dies. The die peeking out from beneath the flowers is Joy Crafts’ 8 Pointed Start die.

TMC 07 Wings

I can’t believe how fast this year is going, we are in March already and The Mirror Crack’d is now just over half a year old! This month our challenge is Wings. A lovely easy one.

07 Wings

Initially I was going to make a canvas with Tim Holtz’s layered bee, but I suddenly changed my mind and decided to go for something less obvious.

First I coloured my 7x5 canvas with Gelatos. Then I added the Crafter’s Workshop Art Is stencil with gold texture paste, which I darkened with some Maya Gold paint as it was too light in it’s natural state.

I needed to put something on the bottom half of the canvas so I picked the centre line of one of Tim Holtz’s tag stencils.

Next I started work on the focal point of the canvas. I have this pad of diecut mannequins, and I stuck 5 of them together and then coloured it with Maya Gold paints in turquoise and silver. When that was dry I used texture paste, which I dyed with some mica powders and gave the body some texture. I decided to add a lace skirt, three layers of gathered lace ribbons to form the skirt. Then it struck me that the tape measure and the mannequin half dressed with a skirt reminded me of a dress form so I decided to turn my canvas into something from the sewing room.

I added seed beads to two tiny glass bottles, a piece of lace with a tiny cotton reel, which I wound some variegated thread onto. Various buttons, one half of a popper, or as some of you might know it, a press stud, and a hook and eye.

The wings themselves were a bit of a disaster. Initially they were lazer cut and had a feather pattern on them, but of course when I coloured them that disappeared, and I chose the wrong colour, which was too dark to go over and I had to sand it off, this ended up roughening up the wings so by the time I had painted them in Maya Gold they looked all rough, a bit like a real feather might I guess, but I only had one pair of the right size so I had to stick with them!

DV 101 Mother’s Day

Our challenge at Dream Valley this time is Mother’s Day. As my Mother has been gone for 14 years now I have made my Mother’s Day card as a reverse card for my Daughter and the sentiment is perfect for how I feel about her.

101 Mother's Day 2

We are sponsored by Crafts and Me and I have one of there lovely images for my card, which I coloured with copics.

My papers are from Kaisercraft’s Chanteuse collection. My flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts with a Petaloo one in the corner and a Petaloo butterfly. The sentiment is part of the paper pad.

My frame behind my image is a joycraft die cut from the same paper that I have used as a mat behind the main pink layer of paper.

Our challenge at ABC is Exceptionally Cute, and we are sponsored by both The Ribbon Girl and Sherri Baldy.

I have used a Sherri Baldy image for my card, which I coloured with Copics.

ABC E Exceptionally Cute

The little bee and rabbit die cuts, plus the overhanging branch are all from Memory Box, but the bench she is sitting on is Marianne. The papers are from Basic Grey’s Porcelain collection. The flowers I made by stamping Elusive Images (Chocolate Baroque now) stamps onto patterned paper, embossing and then cutting out. The pollen centres and the small flowers the rabbits are about to munch are from Anna Marie Designer.
