Dream Valley 89 Flowers

We have a lovely simple challenge for you over at Dream Valley for the next fortnight, flowers, and we are sponsored by The Paper Shelter.

DV 89 Flowers

I wanted something that would go flat in the post for ease and cost of postage, and so went for a one layer approach. The paper was printed from some lovely digital papers by Valentina’s Creations called Sadness, that I had on the pc after I had overlaid it over my own coloured background created from picking a colour from the paper and flooding a blank sheet, which gives the illusion of being matted and layered! The cute little bear, a freebie from Card Making and Papercraft, was stamped over the top, and coloured with copics. I glittered the centre of the flowers with glamour dust, and added some gem corners and borders that I have had in my stash for a considerable number of years, along with some equally ancient gem dragonflies.

Hobby Cutz 62 No White

Our challenge for this week at Hobby Cutz is No White, and our sponsor for this challenge is Kenny K.

HC 62 No White

I printed my Kenny K image onto gold shimmer cardstock, and coloured her in with copics. It was not a very clever choice of cardstock as it was difficult to colour over because the ink didn’t react well with the finish on the card, but as I didn’t have any kraft card that would go through the printer it was my best option.

The paper in the background is from DCWV, and despite it’s look it’s not white, but cream and orange! I layered it up with the Spellbinders Heirloom Legacy card creator die, and some orange textured card, also from DCWV, and more of the gold shimmer. The little lazer cut tools are from Hobby Cutz and were just right for this image I thought. The sentiment was printed onto safmat.

CCM 121 A World of Fantasy

Hi, we are having a Design Team call for the Crafty Cardmakers team over on the blog for the next few weeks. Please pop along and if you want to enter just add DT to your entry into our latest challenge, A World of Fantasy. For that challenge we would love to see your creations that involve either Fairies, Dragons, Unicorns, Goblins or similar fantastical creatures as the MAIN focus of your design.

I should also like to announce the impending launch of a brand new mixed media/altered art style of challenge blog on 5th September at The Mirror Crack’d. We have a really talented team assembled for the new blog and they are already delighting me, as I am sure they will you, with their creative talents.

Anyhow, back to today’s challenge. This post will be quite picture heavy as I find that the lovely Luminarte Silks don’t show up in every light as much as I would like them to!

CCM 121 World of Fantasy-Steve B'day Main

I made this card for my Son-in-Law’s birthday as he is a huge dragon fan. The dragons are from Chocolate Baroque and I coloured them in with Luminarte Silks, gorgeous transparent, luminescent paints! I also stamped two onto transparent shrink plastic, which I also coloured with Silks and then shrunk them. The fabulous sentiment was part of the same stamp sheet from Chocolate Baroque. The background paper comes from a Dragon CD by Jem’s Designs.

DV 88 Wedding

We have a wedding challenge for you over at Dream Valley and it was perfectly timed for me to create a wedding card for friends of my Daughter who will be getting married later next month, but we would love to see your cards, gifts, altered items, scrap LOs and whatever else wedding you can come up with.

We are sponsored by Lacy Sunshine Stamps.

DV 88 Wedding Front

As you can see, having gotten the Go Kreate dies out for my Hobby Cutz card I was inspired to keep them out to create this one. I used them for the whole card, including the base, which was cut from purple stardream card. The circle dies are the Grand Circles from Spellies, and the mat around Tilda is Tiny Hearts from Marianne.

Tilda is from the 2013 Special Moments collection, and she has been coloured with copics, with touches of glitter and gold pigment pen added later. The flowers and gems were from my stash mostly from Wild Orchid for the flowers and the gems were garlands I think from the Magnolia range, but they have been sitting in a pot for a long time!

The peel offs were from Dawn Bibby’s range which I have had for ever!!! I was so disappointed to discover that the only time Wedding was mentioned on them it has a lower case W so was useless for creating the phrase ‘Wedding Day’ as that really should be capitalised. I do wish people would think before they go into production. However, Special Day was capitalised and so I went with that. I painstakingly applied the sentiment four times and it was only when I picked the card up to move it that I realised I had stuck them on with the card upside down, so they all had to come back off, and start again. Lucily I hadn’t stuck the image down at this point.

The inside was inspired by a piece of art my Daughter has on her wall and which apparently the bridge and groom to be laugh at when they see it, so my Daughter wanted the saying inside their card!

88 Wedding Inside Left

The stamp is from an older Magnolia collection, which I added the Bride and Groom’s names to. I also printed the sentiment around the outside of it. I had several attempts before it all ended up in the right place!

88 Wedding Inside Right

Edwin and the Church were from the Special Moments collection and I coloured them both with copics, with touches of white pen for the highlights on Edwin’s buttonhole and the bouquet he is holding, and gold pigment pen for the cross on the church. I added my own step under Edwin so he looked like he was sitting on something instead of perched in mid air!

Hobby Cutz 60 Fancy Folds

I’m a little late with this week’s Hobby Cutz challenge which is Fancy Folds. We are sponsored by Iva Nova Chest.

HC 60 Fancy Folds 1

My card is a swing card which I made with the help of Go Kreate dies, Frilly Square number 10, and the lovely papers from Bo Bunny.

HC Fancy Folds 4

The fabulous butterfly is from Hobby Cutz gorgeous range of lazer cuts and I first painted it white and then used Pinflair’s BuffIt to give it a gorgeous warm sunny shine. The gems were from my stash and I coloured them with promarkers to match the colour scheme. I also coloured the holographic peel off I used for the border of the front of the swing with the same colour.

HC Fancy Folds 5

The lovely metal star with swirly tails has been in my stash for a VERY long time and I thought it was high time I used it on something!

I love the warmth of the colours in this and it reminds me of late Summer and early Autumn days, which I guess are just around the corner. I swear the seasons go faster with each year!

Lexi’sCreations 122 Anniversary/Special Occasion

We want to see your Special Occasion or Anniversary creations for our challenge at Lexi’s Creations for the next two weeks. We are sponsored by Fairy Dust Crafts.

Lexi 122 Anniversary

My card is for my beautiful Daughter and her fabulous Husband’s 3rd Wedding Anniversary. The image, from Tiddly Inks called You and Me Baby, and coloured it with copics, really suits the pair of them. The papers are digital and I cannot for the life of me remember where they came from as I printed them out some time ago and didn’t use them at the time, so apologies to the designer(s). Note to self, print name of paper at the bottom of the sheet!

The flowers are from Wild Orchid and the lovely corners are from a Joycrafts die set. Sentiment was printed on my pc and the tiny flowers in her hair are from my stash.

This was the inside of the card. Prior to sticking the image onto the card front I scanned it into my pc and then printed it out as a mirror image either side of the sentiment.
