Dream Valley #74 No Designer Paper

Dream Valley’s challenge this fortnight is ‘no designer paper’ and we are sponsored by Freckled Fawn with a $20 voucher for their online store, where you could choose from over 300 washi and deco tapes.

I had a Stamps Away stamp I hadn’t yet used and my Brother In Law and my Sister are into steam, so this stamp was perfect for his upcoming birthday.

74 No Designer Paper

I stamped it onto some slightly metallic white card and embossed it. The background layers were created with Embossalicious and Sue Wilson embossing folders, all layers were matted onto black cardstock, and I coloured some silver peeloffs with a permanent black pen to serve as little corners.

I am entering this into the following:-

A Gem of a Challenge – #111 One for the Boys
Cardz4Guyz – #2 Monochrome

CCM 108 Black and White

Welcome to our second challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and More. Our second team is playing this week and Kim is hosting this challenge for us. She has chosen Black and White as her theme and you need to go check our her card because it’s a beauty and one she has had published in the new Spring 2014 Woodware Catalogue, and coicidentally Woodware Craft Collection  are one of our Sponsors today with a fabulous £12 to be spent at one of their retailers either online, or if you live near one, in store! Our other sponsor is Di’s Digistamps with $12 to spend in their fabulous online store.

CCM 108 Black White B

My card is made with all Chloe Endean stamps. Her loopy background stamp has created the background, which I embossed with clear embossing powder over black ink, and then glittered inside all the loops! The central flower is two stamps, each with three petals and I stamped them both twice and then cut them out and layered them up to make the flower. The fabulous sparklies also came from Chloe’s online store. The two ribbons and lace are from my stash and the corners are silver metal corners which I embossed with black glint embossing powder from Wow. The birthday sentiment is just a holographic peel off which I stuck on black card and trimmed round.

I also made an virtually identical card, but this time I reversed the colours of the flower.

CCM 108 Black White W

I wonder which you prefer? I did think I would prefer the mainly white one when I was making them, but in reality it appears I prefer the mainly black one! I know the embossing against the black looks silver, but it actually is just clear holo powder over Brilliance Moonlight White Ink!

I am entering this/these into the following:-

Fussy and Fancy – #105 Monochromatic
Get Inky – #3 Handmade Flowers
Great Impressions – January: Something New (the Chloe stamps are all new)

Lexi’s Creations 108 Fancy Folds

Our Challenge at Lexi’s Creations this time around is fancy folds, and our sponsor is Fairy Dust Crafts.

I remember using the fold for my card below a long time ago, and thought I might dust it off. Couldn’t for the life of me remember the measurements though, and I am pretty sure when I used it before I wasn’t quite so tied down with the image size, as this time around I had printed and coloured my gorgeous Fitztown image before I went to make the fold.

Lexi 108.1

It broke my heart because I ruined a perfectly good piece of double sided card from my new 7 Dots Studio 9th Wave pad because I dived straight in instead of making it from a scrap piece of paper first! Anyhow, the measurements for this one were to cut my card to 5 and 5/8” square before starting. Then I turned the card round 90 degrees so it had a point in the middle at the top, bottom and both sides (hope this is making sense as I forgot to take pictures) I placed it on the centimetre side of the Hougie Board (yes I know I started of with an imperial size, but it really worked better this way) With the top and bottom points straddling the 15cm mark, I scored at 8, 10, 20 and 22cm, then I turned the card 90 degrees so that now the opposite corners were straddling the 15cm line and scored the same measurements. Then you fold all the inside lines in towards the centre, and then you fold back the points so it now has formed a frame with points. You can leave it sort of hanging in the air, but I actually secured it all with some toning embroidery floss, and added a sticky pad under each point and secured them down.

Fold

It sits up dimensionally, but will go flatter for posting, or at least it would if I didn’t hve that large dimensional floral display in the corner!

Image1

I have coloured her with promarkers and copics, and added glitter touches to her hair and the centre of the flowers, and to all of her wings.

Lexi 108.2

The flowers are from Prima, but I hooked out the central pearls as they were pink and replaced them with turquoise pearl brads so they resembled the flowers in the image. The frame around the outside of the folded frame is from Crafter’s Companion’s Diesire Dies, and the embossed outside is also from Crafter’s Companion’s Embossalicious embossing folders.

The filligree leaves are actually Spellbinders D-Lites wings, and the other leaves are top left from Marianne, and bottom right, just a small portion of a tattered lace flourish die. The ribbon is wrapping curling ribbon, which I coloured with a copic pen to match the dress, although of course, it only lightly coloured it as it was irridescent pearl ribbon which had a sort of coating to it so it only absorbed some of the copic ink.

I lightly inked over the embossed area with Peacock Feathers DI, and also went around the outside, and I also used the same Copic pen as I used on the dress to create a false matting layer around the outside as the DI wasn’t showing up enough for my liking and then I added glamour dust to that.

I am entering this into:-

ABC D for Dazzle

Our challenge at ABC this time around is D for Dazzle, so lots of sparkle and/or bling please.
We are sponsored by Pink Gem Designs with two of their fabulous digis.
I have used one of their digis for my card, Chloe with Daisy, which I coloured with my copics and promarkers.
She is on a mat cut with a spellbinder die. The flowers are from Tattered Lace and the papers are from First Edition.
ABC D Dazzle
I blinged up the flowers, and the edges of both the main card and the decorative mat with Martha Stewart glitter glue, and used a glue pen and glamour dust for accents on the image itself.

Dream Valley 73 For a Boy/Man

Our challenge at Dream Valley this time is to create something for the boys or men in your life.

We are sponsored by Robyn’s Fetish with a prize of 3 digi stamps. Melly, the blog owner, is also running a DT call if any of you fancy it!

73 For a Boy or Man

For my male themed card I used a Mo Manning image, which I coloured with my copics and promarkers.

All of my papers are from Basic Grey, but I can’t remember which pad I pulled them out from. In fact I am sure it was more than one pad. The little charm was part of a Christmas gift and the buttons and mesh were in my stash.

I used some glaze on his goggles, but it’s not showing up well on the picture, and also a silver pigment ink pen on the metal parts of his clothes and goggles.

CCM 107 Bear With Me

We have a very slight change of name over at Crafty Cardmakers and from now one we are known as Crafty Cardmakers and More. We changed the name because we wanted to make it clear we are not just about making cards… although having said that our first challenge this year is a card one!

We are sponsored by Flourish With a Bling, with a fabulous AUD$15 prize certificate for their store.

Our theme is Bear With Me, so we would like to see ANY kind of bear as your main image or focal point of your creation. I have used a Lili of the Valley stamp called Teddy with Flower for my bear and coloured him with promarkers and copics.

107 Bear With Me

The papers on my card are from Craftwork Cards from the kit that was recently a Pick of the Day on Create and Craft/Ideal World, a gorgeous set of two paper pads with matchine pads of decorative precut flowers which you can push out and layer up to add interest to your project. I have added some glitter to the edges of the petals on both flowers, although it’s not showing up overly well here. The lovely daisy glittery mat is some vellum I have had in my stash for *coughs* more years than I like to admit. It’s by K & Co. The mat directly behind the teddy image was cut with a spellbinder die.

I am entering this into the following:-

A Creative Romance – Something New

Lexi’s Creations 107 Anything Goes

We are starting off 2014 at Lexi’s Creations with a nice easy theme of Anything Goes

We are sponsored for this challenge by My Heart Pieces with three of their digi images for the winner.

I have used a Sweet Pea stamp for my card, which went to a wiccan friend of mine who owns two cats! Perfect for her I thought

Lexi 107 Anything Goes

I coloured her with copics and promarkers, adding some embossing powder from the purple frantage jewels set to her hat, her top and the waistband of her skirt. I didn’t have the right coloured flowers in my stash to match, so I coloured up some plain white cherry blossoms with the same pens I used to colour the flowers in the image. The diecuts are from the same paper pack as that used on the decorative mat, and were cut with a Memory Box die, and also a Marianne die, but that one is mostly hidden under the flowers.

The purple mesh was very generously sent to me by a friend.

Lexi 107 Image

I added a few flecks of glitter to her hair, and to the cat’s wings to finish off the image.

I am entering her into the following:-

ABC C for Colourful

Our first challenge for 2014 at ABC is designed to cheer us all up after the miserable Christmas and New Year weather we have been suffering…. C for Colourful. What better way to think about Spring being just around the corner than to flood our designs with colour.

We are sponsored by Sherri Baldy with 5 Besties digis and also by The Ribbon Girl with a £10 voucher.

I have used a Sherri Baldy image called Little Bestie Buglets, which is ideal for adding lots of different colours to.

C Colourful

I coloured the image with copics and promarkers. The lovely frame is a Crafters Companion die from their Die’sire range, and the flowers are partly from my stash and partly diecuts from tattered lace. The other die cuts are Marianne Designs, there are three different designs from their Leaves and Anja’s Leaves range.

I added a little glitter to their wings, to give it a little zing.
