ABC Z Zany

It’s our final challenge for 2014 at ABC, and our challenge is Z for Zany! We are sponsored by Sherri Baldy and I have used her Fancy Pants Chillin Out image for my card.

ABC Z Zanys

I wanted something really bright and in your face as it’s for my childhood friend who, like me, has a December birthday, and it’s always a bit dull in December so I thought I would brighten her day a bit.

I coloured her with copics, and used my white Sharpie to add some dots to the fabric of her skirt, pants, and hat.

My flowers and fibres are from my stash and my Papers are from First Edition’s Hideaway pad. The diecut is from Couture Creations and is called Tied Together.

DV 97 Christmas

Our final challenge of the year at Dream Valley is Christmas and this will run for one month.

We are sponsored by multiple sponsors for this challenge please see the challenge post for details.

Untitled - 6My image is from one of our Sponsors, The Paper Shelter, and is called Decorating the Mushrooms. I used the pre-coloured image as I was so busy I didn’t have the time to colour one in first, and then overlaid it on one of the papers, which are all from Bearly Mine Designs, apart from the Turquoise Matting layer which I created on the pc to match. The image layer was then overlaid on the background layer, which I also created using two of the papers from the pack. I used the shadow tool on my graphics program to give the illusion of dimension. The sentiment was also created on the pc and overlaid across the background paper prior to printing. After I had printed it out I added glitter to the lights to give them some added sparkle. This will be a lovely flat card for posting, but has the added advantage of looking dimensional.

CCM 129 Christmas

A little predictable I know, but our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this time around is Christmas! The challenge will run for three weeks instead of the normal two, and I am also running a Design Team call at the same time, so if anyone reading this fancies a go, please add DT after your name in the linky list.

CCM 129 Christmas

I embossed my background with Spellbinders Holiday Magic M-Bossability, and matted it onto blue glitter card. The sentiment banner was a freebie with a magazine.

My image is Rubber Stampede and just his face and hat coloured with copics. I applied glitter glue to his eyebrows, fur edge of his hat and beard.

The Mirror Crack’d 04 Recycle/Upcycle or Make a Gift

I can’t believe it but we are already on the fourth challenge at The Mirror Crack’d. It’s my turn to host so I will be checking out all the entries! Anyhow we have chosen a theme of recycle/upcycle or because it’s Christmas and you might be pressed for time, we would also love to see your hand crafted Christmas gifts.

I am also running a DT call, so if you fancy getting down and dirty with us, then just add your entry and put DT after you name.

03 - Recyle

I guess my project falls into all three categories as it ended up as a gift for my Daughter.

I started with a somewhat tired looking mahogany coloured jewellery cabinet I purchased from the local tip for pennies! I took it all appart and gave it a couple of coats of gesso, and then another of plain white paint. In hindsight it might have been better to attempt to sand it down a little first as it did seem to take much more pain to cover it than I had anticipated.

010203

When it was dry I cut to size some gorgeous self adhesive fabric that I think was by DoCrafts, and stuck that all over the cabinet.

DV 96 Shades of Blue

Our challenge at Dream Valley for the next two weeks is Shades of Blue, and we are sponsored by Lacey Sunshine.

DV 96 Shades of Blue

I used a Lili of the Valley stamp and coloured it with copics. My papers are from the Joy Winter stack, diecut is also from Joy. I trimmed (not awfully neatly) an mat around the patterned diecut as it was disappearing into the paper beneath too much before. When it was all put together I added ice glitter glue to the blue dots on the background paper.

I am entering this into:-

AAA Cards – #29 Blue Blue Christmas Both because of the colour and because well, I’m blue As Elvis sang ‘it’ll be a blue, blue Christmas without you’

Winter Wonderland – Dies and Punches

Shades of Blue is a very apt title for this post as I am feeling very blue myself. I lost a very dear friend on Thursday to cancer. Some of you may have come across her blog about her life and illness called Jane’s Journey. We only met once in real life, but have known each other for a few years online. I am sure most of you will have experienced how strong a friendship you can grow with someone you hardly know ‘in the real world’. Anyhow Jane was an exceptional human being, loving, warm, funny, creative and very wise. If you know anyone embarking on a cancer journey of their own, or are the friend or relative of such a person I highly recommend her blog.

Also if you knew Jane, or are just feeling generous please support her Just Giving page. This was typical of Jane, as she approached the end of the line she set up a page for donations to the Make a Wish Foundation. Typical that she would want to be remembered by putting a smile on some child’s face.

Jane and Lin 2a BLOG

This is the most unflattering image of me, showing as it does my double chin, but sadly we didn’t have time to get better shots. Jane is the one in white, the hairy one is Poppy and that’s me on the right.

Jane my life is better for having had you in it. I just wish it could have been for so much longer. May the angels bless you and keep you safe.

Y Yule 3
After colouring I ran it through a cuttlebug snow embossing folder and then added glue where the embossed dots were and to the ground beneath her feet and added glitter.

CCM 128 Distress It

For the next two weeks at Crafty Cardmakers we want to see your ‘distressed’ projects.

CCM 128 Distress It aWe are sponsored by Di’s Digistamps and also by Woodware Craft Collection.

I used a brand new freebie stamp set from Card Making and Papercraft to make my card. I stamped her in black and embossed with clear powder. Having distressed the edges of the mats, and all the layers, which were some purple bark mirri card, and two different paper packs Memory Box Viola, and Wild Rose’s Butterfly Garden; I frantaged randomly. I also die cut a Memory Box branch die in black and embossed a few times with clear powder to give it a shine. Finally I daubed some Pebeo Gilding Wax around the edges. The top layer of paper was waste from when I die cut a mat for another project from the centre. I used a MS bracket edge punch to give a bit of shape to the top and bottom. I liked the way that bits of the paper underneath were able to peep out from more than just the edge, and it used up an otherwise useless piece of paper!

The two resin butterflies, and flowers are all from my stash.

DV 95 Anything Goes

Our challenge at Dream Valley this week is a nice easy Anything Goes one. We are sponsored by Dilly Bean Digi Stamps and we were lucky enough to be given some of their images to work with. I chose Kiki Mermaid.
DV 95 Anything Goes
This is my first ever Art Journal page!!

Because of my ME I often want to start something but lack the energy, and then there are times that it has taken me so long to prepare something (in this case I gessoed my watercolour paper before adding Aquatints to it) I sit staring at the white space scared to start in case it all goes wrong and the time it has already taken me is wasted. But on this occasion I dived in, no pun intended.

So I added a layer of aquatints and when they were dry I stamped various underwater themed stamps from Sheena Douglass and Designs by Ryn (the bubbles) randomly across the page. I also coloured in the two seahorses and the fish with the wide tail with copics.

Kiki I had already coloured with copics and I scanned her in, already coloured and printed her out in two progressively smaller sizes, one of which I flipped round first. I fussy cut her out and glued her to the background. I had to draw her curly wurly on her tail in as I couldn’t cut that thinly and I didn’t want areas of white around it. If you get the digistamp you will have a proper curl on the bottom of her tail.

I printed the text on my pc and cut it up and stuck it down. I edged lots of things in black, and also added some glamour dust to some of the weeds, all three Kiki’s tails and the seahorses and fish tail. Finally I went all around the edge with Pebeo gold gilding wax.

ABC X Xtra Special

Our challenge this fortnight at ABC is X for Xtra Special, we want you to create a card for a special person or occasion. We are sponsored by Kenny K.

Mine is a very special thank you to a friend who saved my Daughter’s job!

ABC X Xtra Special

Having told my Daughter, when she went for her new job that it was fine she didn’t have her own bank account, they suddenly changed their minds literally at the 11th hour. They gave her about 5 days to sort out an account or risk losing her new job, and all after she had already worked her notice at her old job!

My friend dropped everything to drive her 40 miles to the only place that would open her an account at very short notice and without picture ID.

It seems that these days in the UK if you don’t have a passport because you don’t do or haven’t done a foreign holiday and don’t drive, and therefore don’t have a driving licence you are persona non grata as far as Banks are concerned! Anyhow this is a thank you for the friend who literally went the extra mile to help my Daughter out.

It’s from the Cut, Mat, Create paper pad by Heartfelt Creations, which I have been hanging onto, and finally have cut into. HC is one of my favourite companies for paper and accompanying stamps, dies etc.

The lovely diecuts are from the Raindrops on Roses collection’s dies, and the butterfly is from the Sunflower Collections stamps.

CCM 127 A Touch of Charm

Our current challenge at Crafty Cardmakers is A Touch of Charm, so basically as long as it has a charm attached/incorporated, that will be fine.

CCM 127 Touch of Charm

I finally got the Tim Holtz Layered Bee die and texture fade combination I have been lusting after for weeks! I die cut it from yellow Bazill card, and having run in through the texture fade embossing folder I coloured it’s thorax, stripes and legs with black copic pen. I added some soft orange to it’s wings to give dimension, but as I then added a layer of soft acetate, glittered with glamour dust you can’t see with the way the light hit the card that the wings have this additional colour! So I don’t really know why I just mentioned it, lol

The Beehive, honeycomb and the two shrink plastic bees on the hive are all from an Xcut die set called Bee Keeping, which was a perfect match for the Layered Bee die.

My paper is from Heartfelt Creations Sunflower pad, and my charm was plain silver, but I added a couple of copic shades so that it would more like the centre of the sunflower that was already on the paper.

I distressed around the edges of the paper and two mats, and stamped a few small bees that I got from Art Journey.

The Mirror Crack’d #03 Christmas Decorations

I should have had this ready to go on 5th November, but I was waiting on some supplies to finish off, and then when they arrived I had just plain run out of steam. ME can be an absolute (insert whatever swear word you fancy here) at times!

03 Christmas Decs - All

My Christmas decorations are three words from Anna Marie Designs.

First I painted them all with Gesso. A few coats because the brown of the mdf just kept coming through. I then gave them all one layer of titanium white paint.

03 Christmas Decs - Snow

Starting with Snow…… I gave it a bit of a wash with a pale Turquoise Gelato, and then dabbed Martha Stewart glitter glue all over, before going all around the edges of the letters with the glue more concentrated. I die cut several trees, from green marbled glittery paper and then edged them with snow writer. I also diecut a Marianne icicle die a few times and layed that across the top of the word, before edging that also with Snow Writer. Before the Snow Writer dried I added Glamour Dust. Finally I layered a combination of artificial snow mixed with Stampendous Frantage Shaved Ice.

03 Christmas Decs - Santa

Next Santa….. I went all around the edges of the letters and the base with Red Buff It, and before it had fully dried I dragged some of it onto the letters themselves with a baby wipe. Boy does that stuff spread on a baby wipe. I also edged all these letters with Snow Writer, and added Glamour Dust. I diecut a few more trees, several different Reindeer, and a sleigh, and then I couldn’t find a Santa anywhere. I stupidly threw away a LARGE Santa stamp that I figured I wouldn’t use again, but which would have been perfect for stamping and shrinking! Motto of this is never throw it away, you can bet two days later you will want it! Anyhow, I found a cute transparent film sticker of a waving Santa, so I popped him onto white card and then cut him out and glued him inside the sleigh. I added more of the artificial snow/Shaved Ice mix, and also some red glittery pom poms, and two tiny parcel rosettes.

03 Christmas Decs - Noel

Finally my favourite, Noel. I covered each letter with a different pattern of paper from a First Edition Winter pack, sorry can’t remember it’s name and it’s been packed out of sight and I am too worn out to drag it back out again.

I again went around all the letters with Snow Writer and also dabbed some onto some lovely Pine Cones I brought from Hobby Craft, which is where the darling Robin also came from. He is so dut, made up of hundreds of thin strands all glued together. I made his nest from natural fibres, some reindeer moss, some artificial floristry stuff and a couple of diecut twigs from the Marianne Pine Cones set. I also added the snow/Shaved Ice mix again, after I had added some gorgeous glittery berries, also from Hobbycraft. 10/10 to HobbyCraft. These berries were missing by mistake from my order, but she immediately sent them out to me by next day delivery!

DV 94 Getting Ready for Christmas

Our challenge this time around at Dream Valley is Getting Ready for Christmas, and we are sponsored by Robyn’s Fetish. I have used one of their lovely digis for my card.

DV 94 Getting Ready for Christmas2

My background is a fabulous freebie embossing folder which came with Cardmaking and Papercraft and also had three lovely stamps and some paper as well, which I am sure I will be using on another card.

The Robyn’s Fetish image was printed on my pc and coloured with copics. I then ran it through the Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder and glittered the snow dots on top. The mat is from Spellbinders, and the sentiment is a Penny Black diecut, which I have cut twice and then split to fit around the card, with the addition of another la, la, la to balance it out.

ABC W Water

Our challenge at ABC today is W for Water.  We want to see beach/ocean/water themed creations. We are sponsored by Marianne Designs with a surprise package and also by The Ribbon Girl with a £10 voucher for their store.W Water

My card was created with several different dies. The bulk of the ‘seaweeds’ are different Marianne foliage dies, apart from the double one which is Sue Wilson’s Pine Bough! The mermaid is a Tattered Lace die, bottom cut from and and overlaid onto shimmer paper, and then fussy cut out. The top just cut from white card and coloured with copics. The circle is also  Marianne die. Background is from Sue Wilson and embossing folder that looks like seaweed waving in the current. The seahorses and crabs are Joy dies which I die cut from shrink plastic and then after they were shrunk I drew some detail onto them. Have to apologise for the poor quality of my mermaid’s facial features, but an artist I am not!!!

CCM 126 Cut It Out

Our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this time around is ‘Cut It Out’ or let’s see your die cuts or punches.

We are sponsored by Hobby Art Stamps with a gorgeous stamp, Rodney the Reindeer, (see blog for a picture) and also by Di’s Digis with a $12 gift certificate.

CCM 126 Cut It Out

I created my own background by repeating several wedding themed sentiments across a 6” square piece of paper on the pc. When I had printed it out I ran it through my die cutting machine with a Spellbinders Embossing folder with hearts and swirls and then swept over the raised area with Dusty Concord DI.

I then sprayed the background with Spray and Sparkle and threw some glitter on top!

The bride and groom die cuts are from Tattered Lace, the Bride die is called Bella and the Groom is called George.

I die cut George from pearl card, and then coloured bits of him, in silver grey, purple to accessorise with Bella, and just skin and hair.

Bella is a much more intricate die so I cut her out three times, one on card, for her bust head and shoulders and and actually twice on pearl paper as the die just wouldn’t cut through the card fully. The first die cut I cut out and then coloured with a purple copic to match George’s tie etc., but once I had assembled the card it didn’t show up enough, so I cut her out again, but this time I coloured the pearl paper first with Snap Dragon Luminarte Silk paint before die cutting.

DV 93 Halloween

Our challenge at Dream Valley for the next two weeks is Halloween.
We have a gorgeous Prize of Graphic 45 Papers, Flowers and Ribbon this fortnight, kindly donated by one of our team Mags.

93 Hallowe'en
My image is from All Dressed Up and I have coloured her with copics, and the mat she is on is a Spellbinder die. The papers are from Bearly Mine Designs and the cobweb die is from Memory Box. I had a bunch of glittery spiders, but they seem to have been scared away by all the conkers I have placed around my bungalow to keep the real ones out because I couldn’t find them anywhere, so I used some shrink plastic charms I made a long time back as extra embellishments.

We are sponsored by Oak Pond Creations and I have used one of their lovely digistamps called Hallows Night, which I have coloured with copics.

ABC V Vibrant1

The background of the image was swiped over with black soot distress ink applied with a baby wipe to give a whispy foggy look. I added the cobwebs on the fence with a white sharpie marker. The skull and crossbones and skellie on the harley were in my stash, as was the besom. Papers were freebies from Bearly Mine Designs and the cobwebs are a Memory Box die.
