Lexi’s Creations #61 Easter

With Easter approaching our challenge to you this fortnight it to make an Easter creation.

Lexi 61 Easter Main

We are sponsored by The Stamping Bazaar

For my easter card I used papers from DCWV from their Nana’s Nursery Stack. My image is from Mo Manning and has been coloured with promarkers. Because the background papers were an ivory/lemon shade I went around my image with lemon chalk to take away from the stark whiteness so it would blend better with the background, and I edged it with green.

The fence is three Marianne diecuts lined up together, and the little added chicks (which sadly look a little flat colourwise on here, although in real life they were more shaded) are also Marianne diecuts, which I cut out of ‘fuzzy’ paper and coloured with promarkers. The fuzzy paper does exactly what it says on the tin in that it’s fuzzy and feels like fur, or in this case soft chick feathers! Shame we don’t have touch-e-vision on our blogs!

I am entering this into the following challenges:-

Cardmadfairy – #29 Add a Sentiment

Chocolate Coffee and Cards – #8 Feathers and Fur

Craft Us Crazy – #23 Religious/Easter and/or Something Sweet

Crafty Ann’s Challenge – #61 Spring into Spring

Just Inspirational Challenges – #20 Inspiration Picture I chose the Green one

Phindy’s Friday Challenge – #97 Spring has Sprung

Simply Create Too – #9 It’s Spring

Stampavie and More – #164 Spring/Easter

Stempelsonne – #58 Easter

The Poodles Parlour – Anything Goes

Because I don’t celebrate Easter and therefore have no use for another Easter themed card I used the main part of the card to create a birthday card for a forum friend with some adaptions.

Tru B'day (1)

I printed a new image from The Paper Shelter called Spring Swing, which I coloured with my promarkers. The Fence was the same idea but I wound roses around it to look like they were growing up it, I die cut the same birds in fuzzy paper but this time coloured them blue to match the bluebird in the image, and added a mesh bow, and a birthday sentiment. I also added chalk around the image to tone down the bright white of the card.

I’m entering this card into these challenges:-

Crafting For All Seasons – #22 Use Green and Yellow

Divas By Design – #26 Citrus Colours

Cute Card Thursday – #208 Happy Birthday

Digistamps4Joy – #38 Green

CCM #64 Time

As the clocks go forward next Weekend here in the UK and we will be on British Summer Time, our challenge for you at Crafty Cardmakers this fortnight is ‘Time’. It is hosted by Jackie and this is what she had to say about her challenge.

Your card should reflect in some way the concept of Time - time passing, time spent, time waiting . . . You can use stamps, digi images, photographs, shop bought embellishments, embossing folders, background images, your own drawings or anything else you can think of.

Time Main

We are sponsored by StampMan

and also by Di's Digi Downloads (2) copy

Please see the Crafty Cardmakers blog for more details.

Most of the team have been very arty with their creations, but I had a leaving card to make for a colleague of my SIL who sadly has just been made redundant. As they work for a Brewery, the expression ‘time Gentlemen please’ sprung into my head. I did check first if he had a sense of humour because otherwise it could be considered tasteless! I was assured he did have so the above card is what I came up with it.

I am told that he has white hair, so I left my chaps’ hair white. The background is embossed with a Cuttlebug clock parts folder onto Core’dinations and sanded back to reveal the core. The image came on a free cd with The Complete Guide to Digital Crafting magazine. I coloured him with promarkers but paper pieced his shirt to match the matting behind him.

The two beer glasses were pics I downloaded and printed onto Crafty Computer Paper’s printable shrink plastic.

The sentiment was printed on my pc. I do hope they are right and that ‘Bedlam’ (his nickname because apparently he causes bedlam wherever he goes!) has a good sense of humour!

I am entering this into the following challenges:-

2 Sisters Challenge Blog – #83 Spots and Dots

Cardmadfairy’s Digi Days – #29 Add a Sentiment

Digi Designs Challenge Blog – Pastels

Digi Doodle Shop – #99 People

Here Come The Boys – #23 DIY Image or Embellishment (my beer glasses)

Dream Valley #28 Easter

Our challenge at Dream Valley this fortnight is Easter.

DV 28 Main

We are sponsored by Meljen’s Designs and I used her image Little Lamb for my easter card.

I have coloured it with promakers. The papers are from First Edition’s Spring Drop pad and the flowers are from Prima. I created the Easter sentiment on my pc with an Easter font.

I quite liked this design so just adjusted it slightly with a different floral arrangement and a different sentiment to make into a birthday card. I made the legs and face lighter in the second version too as I think my little lamb looked a bit like he had been under a sun lamp in the first one!

ABC L is for …….

Lavender and Lace!

Here I am late again, arggghhhh. I had a brain melt moment and completely forgot to blog my card for the ABC DT with our theme this time.

ABC L Main

We are sponsored by The Pretty Little Ribbon Shop and their prize is this stamp and also by LOTV with a fabulous £10 gift voucher

This was an easy one for me as all forms of Lavender are my absolute favourite colour. For my card I used some old sizzix papers that have been sitting in my stash for a very long time, but the delicate little dragonfly design was just right for what I wanted to do.

ABC L Image

The lace centre strip is a piece of toning card punched out with a MS punch, and overlayed on that are a strip of lace and a purple ribbon.

The plain mauve paper has been embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder. My image is from Sassy Cheryl and I have coloured her with promarkers. The diecuts are from Memory Box and the flower I made myself, both from mauve mirri card.

I am entering this into the following challenges:-

All That Scraps – Anything Goes

Crafts and Me – #75 Circles (my diecuts are circular)

DYSU – #63 Favourite Colour

I Love Promarkers – #108 Anything Goes

Ladybug Crafts Ink – Anything Goes

Dream Valley #29 Mother’s Day

Over at Dream Valley this time we would like to see your creations with a Mother’s Day or female theme. I am not sure when in America you have Mother’s Day but here in the UK this year it’s March 18th. Apparently I am going to be taken out to lunch and I am looking forward to it.

DV 27 Main

We are sponsored by One Stop Card Crafts and by Crafty Ribbons.

My image is from Sassy Cheryl, coloured with promarkers, isn’t she just too cute? I believe she is called ‘I Love you This much’. The papers are from the Kaisercraft Pink Gelato pad, and the lovely venise lace I got as a HUGE bargain job lot on Fleabay. I bought all this

SAM_5218

for £5.49!!! I trimmed just one of the white/silver pieces into 6 floral pieces and then coloured it in with my promarkers in the same colours as I used on the image, and was delighted at how well it coloured up.

SAM_5200     SAM_5202

I just wish I had a Mum to give it to. Sadly my Mum passed away before I got into papercrafting. She was one of those people who would rather have a nice card than an expensive present. I bet she would have loved handmade cards.

DV 27 Image

I remember one Mother’s Day my Dad provided my Sister and I with enough money to get Mum a small gift. I bought a 1/4lb box of chocolates. Those of you of a certain age from the UK will no doubt remember those tiny little boxes of chocs. There were about 8 chocolates in the box. Anyhow I kept looking at this box and looking at it, and in the end I took the wrapper off just so I could smell them. Then almost without realising I had eaten one! Before I knew it I had polished all but two of them off. In my defence, we had sweets so infrequently as they were a treat, which clearly I didn’t deserve!

Come Mother’s Day morning I had to present my Mum with an almost empty box of chocolates. My Father was furious. My Mum, bless her, she smiled and said thank you like it was the most natural thing in the world to get a box of chocolates with only two left in it. I wasn’t allowed to buy her chocolates after that as ‘you can’t be trusted!’ I lived with that shame for several years, and from then on I was only allowed to buy her Maltesers or flowers; each time as I asked for a box of Maltesers, which I hated at the time, my face would colour up as I remembered why I was buying nasty little balls of chocolate with a strange tasting centre. Fortunately for my Mum she loved Maltesers.

Karma has a long memory too. I ended up with Diabetes! That’ll teach me, lol

I am entering this into the following challenges:-

A Gem Of A Challenge – #41 Perfect Pastels

2 Sisters – #81 Recipe (1 Image, 2 Patterned Papers, 3 Embellishments)

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge – #144 Mother’s Day

ABC K is for Kraft

This fortnight’s challenge at ABC is the letter K, for Kraft. So we would like to see some Kraft paper somewhere on your design.

ABC K Main 2

We are sponsored by image

I couldn’t wait to ink up my lovely new Sarah Kay stamp, Pia, and I chose a free design that I got from Bearly Mine as my backing paper. The ‘kraft’ mat is a piece of Bazzill and I used the same paper under my image, but embossed it first with a circle embossing folder to match the design on the paper.

ABC K Image

I have coloured Pia in with promarkers and flexmarkers. The meshes are from my stash, along with the gem flower, and dragonflies. The flowers I made by cutting enough of the backing paper to glue two pieces back to back. I went over with some DI so that they would lift a little away from the background, pinched the petals and layered them up. I was disappointed with my flowers in the past from the EK whale of a punch until I saw Mel Heaton give them more substance so I copied her idea. I like them much better this way.

ABC K Floral No WM

This has gone off to a crafty friend for her birthday, so I hope she likes it.

I am entering this into the following challenges:-

Emerald Faerie Garden Challenge – #19 Embossing Wet or Dry

Paper Crafting Journey – #4 Anything Goes

Paper Play Challenges – #9 Something Old, Something New (old meshes, new stamp)

Penny’s Paper-Crafty Challenge – #74 Photo Inspiration (I was inspired by the colours) page0_blog_entry9_1

Sassy Cheryl – #104 Spots and Dots

Simon Says Stamp – Anything Goes

SJ Crafts – #2 Flowers, added extra pink

Stamp n Doodle – Embossing of any kind

Before I close I would like to comment on a distressing incident this last month. A good friend of mine has been accused of copying other peoples designs and of artwork theft. This has been done without a shred of evidence being supplied. Yet the accuser saw fit to publish it on her well followed blog and her followers, a little like the women who sat beneath the guillotine knitting and cheering while heads rolled, all jumped on the bandwagon with cries not dissimilar to ‘off with her head’, or rather the modern day equivalent of ‘throw her off of blogland’ ‘name and shame her’ ‘make her quit blogger’. She was even called a cow. Now I understand that these demands arose because they had, after all, just been told what an heinous crime this ‘person’ was supposed to have committed and trusting in the word of the poster reacted to it.

She was also accused of removing the original watermarks on the alleged copy pieces and of removing portions of her blog when found out. If you knew her as I do you would know that she is hard pressed to even print out a digital stamp let alone to use software for graphics manipulation.

Despite several of us going over to this blog and asking to see proof still the accusation stands and no evidence to back it up.

A very talented lady’s reputation has been brought into question and all with no proof whatsoever.

I should therefore like to put out a plea. In future if you read something of a similar nature, unless there is proof provided, please don’t just assume that there has been a crime committed but rather wait for evidence before you form an opinion and start baying for blood. My friend only discovered these allegations at the weekend, but they had been sitting on the accusers blog for just over a month. She has had a distressing time and has done nothing wrong and didn’t deserve to be treated so shabbily. Remember, just because you read it on the internet don’t necessarily make it true!!
