With the day of love being so close around the corner we at Dream Valley would like to see your valentine creations.
Be sure to pop on over to the main challenge blog to see what my teamies have come up with.
We are sponsored by the lovely with a £10 voucher for her store.
Before I bore you with the details as to how I made my card, and just in case anyone missed me coming around to comment I have had a miserable fortnight.
Firstly I had an urgent trip to hospital followed by emergency surgery. Just as that started to heal I did something to my back which rendered me virtually paralysed when lying down and only able to walk like a 90 year old woman with a dowager’s hump, bent over a zimmer frame (or walker as I believe is the pc term these days) which my Daughter borrowed from a friend’s elderly Mother, as I actually needed it more!
To add insult to injury Poppy was sent to stay down at my Sister’s house and on Friday my Niece brought her up for a quick visit because I was missing her so much and she took one look at me and jumped up at my Niece for a kiss! My Niece left the room and shut the door behind her to give Poppy a chance to spot she was home and that I was there and she sat and wined at the door! So much for ‘man’s best friend’ ‘unconditonal love’ ‘no love like a dog’s’, not in my house it isn’t…….. in my house it’s ‘are you feeding me, are you looking after me, NO, well then just begger off'!’. I said out loud ‘what am I chopped liver’ which of course if I had been would have been much better as far as Poppy was concerned because THEN she would have paid attention to me.
She’s back at my Sister’s for a few more days whilst my internal bits get a chance to heal properly, and hopefully my back to mend, and I fully expect to be snubbed when she comes home and have her pining for life down there, where they apparently feed her toast at breakfast! No wonder she ignored me, all she gets out of me as a treat at breakfast time is All Bran, and I find it disgusting so am amazed she considers it a treat. Toast however, now that’s a different taste altogether.
Okay if you are still here, haven’t dozed off, clicked ‘close’ or just generally lost interest here is how I made my valentine.
Firstly I started with a Tilda special edition stamp ‘Raining Hearts’ and coloured her up with promarkers and flexmarkers.
The lovely diecut surrounding her is a Cheery Lynn die called Polynesian Sails. Irritatingly I could not find a corresponding die to trim Tilda out with so that the Cheery Lynn could just slot over the top, and I couldn’t use the CL to cut her out with either as it annoyingly has another die in the centre! I wish they had produced it in two pieces so you could remove the centre die, as in my opinion it limits the use of the die.
I made the flower by using a Martha Stewart punch along a 12 inch strip of DCWV card and then folding it like a concertina to make a rosette, and used some flowers from my stash plus a couple of heart beads to finish it off.
The papers are the new pad from Basic Grey ‘Kissing Booth’, and I used them to make the diecut and also trimmed up a sheet to make the lacey edge and the heart edge. Heart Doily is from my stash.
