CCM #62 1,2,3 A Recipe

Our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this fortnight is hosted by Kim and it’s a Recipe challenge. Kim would like to see you use 1 Image (preferably stamped), 2 Backing Papers and 3 Embellishments, and the embellishments MUST include at least one heart. Kim also requires you to tell her in your post how you met the challenge, so your 1,2,3 list.

CCM 62 Main

Mine is as follows

1 Image – Abigail Apple from Kraftin’ Kimmie coloured with promarkers

2 Backing Papers from the Basic Grey Out of Print pad, both of which I have inked around the edges to draw the colours in more

3 Embellishments 1 Heart Brad, 1 Apple Brad and 1 Tiny Crystal Flower

The Sentiment is part of the stamp set. The nestie shape was cut from plain white card and I edged it with both Pear Tart Memento Ink and Festive Berries DI. I also went around the edge on top of the ink with a white Sakura pen.

I used the same gel pen to highlight some parts of the image, most notably the apples.

The card itself is made with a Go Kreate die.

I enjoyed this challenge as it makes a nice change not to feel the need to ‘throw everything on it’, which a lot of us tend to do these days, and leads the eye more to the image I think, but that’s just my personal opinion.

I am entering this into the following challenges:-

Alota Rubber Stamps – #77 Shaped Card

Lexi’s Creations #59 Monochromatic

Our challenge at Lexi’s this fortnight is Monochromatic.

I have chosen pink as my theme

Lexi 59 Main

My image is from our sponsor at Lexi’s image and is called ‘Nancy with Boquet’.

Since I have never seen a pink animal in my life, I obviously opted to colour Nancy in something other than pink! I used my pro and flex markers.

Lexi 59 Floral

The papers are from Basic Grey and First Edition, and I distressed them both and embossed the bottom layer with white and pink glitter embossing powders, and I repeated the process around the image mat’s edge. The ribbon is from an old skirt that finally gave up the ghost and provided me with a good 4 yards of pink lacey ribbon! The flowers are stamped with Elusive Images stamps onto some K&Co paper, and cut out. The twirly wires I made myself. The diecuts are Marianne. The Guaze has been tinted with a Distress Ink.

I am entering this into the following:-

Card Crafters Circle – #10 to Die For

Crafts and Me – #71 Distressed

Crafty Ribbons – #13 Paws for Thought

Dream Valley #26 Just For Men

Hi, over at Dream Valley we would like to see your creations for Men.

Tall, blonde, dark and lean
Rough and tough and strong and mean
It’s Raining Men!

Ooooops got a little carried away there, lol

Anyhow anything you like as long as it’s male themed!

My man hardly matches any of the above criteria in the rhyme, but what the heck, he is actually a perfect match for my BIL! Shhhhh, don’t tell him I said that….

DV 26 Main

The image is from our Sponsor this time, who are offering our lucky winner up to $21 to spend on the fabulous images in their store.

I have coloured ‘Jim’ in with my promarkers, and for his glasses and balloon I added Diamond Glaze to give the glass effect, which you can see better in the pic below

My papers are from the lovely First Edition pad called Isabelle. The ribbon and buttons are from my stash and the sentiment comes with one of the other Bugaboo digis.

ABC J for Jazz It Up

It’s my turn to host over at ABC this fortnight, and I have chosen ‘Jazz It Up’ for my theme. So I want to see lots of glitter/bling to jazz up your creations.

ABC J

We are sponsored by image and on offer are 7 free digis from their store.

We are also sponsored by image and they have on offer these fabulous embellishments image

I have gone a bit mad with the glitter myself, and as you can see in the very pale picture below I even glittered the lovely little Bugaboo image on her bow, belt, petticoat, and the rabbit’s ears and tummy. You can’t see it too well in the darker picture, hence the very bright one second below. Both the patterned papers and image are matted onto glitter card, and I also have a lovely crystal swirl which I coloured with my promarkers to match the colouring on the image.

CCM # 61 Monochrome Magic

Today is a brand new Sponsor day again over at Crafty Cardmakers and the prizes are absolutely fantastic! You need to scurry on over there and see if you can create something to match our theme of Monochrome Magic.

CCM 61 Main

We are sponsored by both Digi Doodle Shop and also by our newest Sponsor IndigoBlu and if I hadn’t been in hospital and laid up with my back I fully intended to do something with part of their fabulous prize myself, namely the gorgeous Love Is stamp. If I get a chance I will create something between now and next fortnight and post it here. Do please stop by the blog though as one or two of the team have used both Digi Doodle Shop images or IndigoBlu products or in one case BOTH!

CCM 61 Image

So onto my interpretation of the theme. Obviously monochromatic creations are meant to be in one colour family, and I chose orange. I seem to be having a Magnolia moment as I can’t put Tilda down! I have coloured my lovely little ‘Tilda with Daisy’ with pros and flexies. My papers are from Basic Grey’s Picadilly pad, and I trimmed them out with a MS punch. The lower layer I edged with Ripe Persimmon DI (my favourite of the limited edition colours) to lift if off the pale orange background a little as it almost disappeared before.

CCM 61 Corner

Tilda is matted onto a nestie die cut and I threaded some lush shimmery organza ribbon around the edge. The flowers are from my stash, as are the little porcelain butterfly, the heart gems and the lovely wired glass beads.

CCM 61 Fly

I am entering this into the following:-

Lexi’s Creations #58 Love

Hi I’m back, minus the moaning, lol

Our Challenge at Lexi’s Creations this time is ‘love’ and we are sponsored once again by Fairy Dust Crafts.

I used a sentiment from Fairy Dust Crafts on my card.

Lexi 58 Love Main

But first I manipulated it to change it’s colour to a sort of hot pink/red. Having printed it I cut it out using a Marianne die. It’s layered onto paper from the new Basic Grey ‘Kissing Booth’ pad, wome of which I trimmed around with a MS punch. The flowers, ribbon and gems are from my stash. I made the heart pins myself.

Dream Valley #25 – Valentine

With the day of love being so close around the corner we at Dream Valley would like to see your valentine creations.

DV 25 Main

Be sure to pop on over to the main challenge blog to see what my teamies have come up with.

We are sponsored by the lovely  image  with a £10 voucher for her store.

Before I bore you with the details as to how I made my card, and just in case anyone missed me coming around to comment I have had a miserable fortnight.

Firstly I had an urgent trip to hospital followed by emergency surgery. Just as that started to heal I did something to my back which rendered me virtually paralysed when lying down and only able to walk like a 90 year old woman with a dowager’s hump, bent over a zimmer frame (or walker as I believe is the pc term these days) which my Daughter borrowed from a friend’s elderly Mother, as I actually needed it more!

To add insult to injury Poppy was sent to stay down at my Sister’s house and on Friday my Niece brought her up for a quick visit because I was missing her so much and she took one look at me and jumped up at my Niece for a kiss! My Niece left the room and shut the door behind her to give Poppy a chance to spot she was home and that I was there and she sat and wined at the door! So much for ‘man’s best friend’ ‘unconditonal love’ ‘no love like a dog’s’, not in my house it isn’t…….. in my house it’s ‘are you feeding me, are you looking after me, NO, well then just begger off'!’.  I said out loud ‘what am I chopped liver’ which of course if I had been would have been much better as far as Poppy was concerned because THEN she would have paid attention to me.

She’s back at my Sister’s for a few more days whilst my internal bits get a chance to heal properly, and hopefully my back to mend, and I fully expect to be snubbed when she comes home and have her pining for life down there, where they apparently feed her toast at breakfast! No wonder she ignored me, all she gets out of me as a treat at breakfast time is All Bran, and I find it disgusting so am amazed she considers it a treat. Toast however, now that’s a different taste altogether.

Okay if you are still here, haven’t dozed off, clicked ‘close’ or just generally lost interest here is how I made my valentine.

DV Main 2

Firstly I started with a Tilda special edition stamp ‘Raining Hearts’ and coloured her up with promarkers and flexmarkers.

DV 25 Image

The lovely diecut surrounding her is a Cheery Lynn die called Polynesian Sails. Irritatingly I could not find a corresponding die to trim Tilda out with so that the Cheery Lynn could just slot over the top, and I couldn’t use the CL to cut her out with either as it annoyingly has another die in the centre! I wish they had produced it in two pieces so you could remove the centre die, as in my opinion it limits the use of the die.

I made the flower by using a Martha Stewart punch along a 12 inch strip of DCWV card and then folding it like a concertina to make a rosette, and used some flowers from my stash plus a couple of heart beads to finish it off.

SAM_4975

The papers are the new pad from Basic Grey ‘Kissing Booth’, and I used them to make the diecut and also trimmed up a sheet to make the lacey edge and the heart edge. Heart Doily is from my stash.

I am entering this into the following:-

2 Sisters Challenge – #77 Red, Pink and White Colour Challenge

Basic Grey – #61 Love/Valentines

Di’s Digi Designs – Valentine’s Challenge

Hiding in My Craft Room – #32 Pink, Red and White colour challenge
