Making your own flowers
Paper piecing/patchwork
Shrink plastic
Please pick at least three of the techniques from the list above, for our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this time, and use them on your creation. Please also tell us which three you have used. You can use more than three if you like, but you must use at least three to qualify for one of our lovely prizes which this time are a fabulous frantage set from Sir Stampalot and 5 Digis from Milk Coffee Digital Stamps.
For my card I chose:-
Embossing - Dry
Distressing - Edges and Frantaging to background papers
Shrink Plastic - Happy Birthday
I cut out a shaped card with my GoKreate dies and then cut a purple frame, and the patterned paper, which was free in a magazine. The white base layer I ran through one of the new Sue Wilson embossing folders, and then lightly ink dusted some Broken Glass DI across it. After I had glued my purple frame in place I frantaged randomly across the which embossed background and frame. I also did the same with the floral mat. I also distressed all the edges with the Tim Holtz distresser.
My image is from Magnolia and I coloured her with promarkers. The clouds are created with Broken Glass DI and a cloud template. The top flower was from my stash as were the flowers in the bouguet at the bottom which I secured and then added a small seam binding ribbon bow to.
The Happy Birthday was cut from shrink plastic which I inked over with some tri coloured ink (not to be recommended, either Stazon or I should have used brilliance and waited for it to dry, because after I had heated it the ink started coming off on my hands!) This was, to be honest, a nightmare to shrink as the words already had curly letters and they just wanted to curl up on themselves; so I probably wouldn’t do the same again.
I made this for a friend, who has a twin sister, so look out for a smilar shaped card with the ABC Challenge due up on Wednesday! I figured twins might like the same shape but a completely different card……

ReplyDeleteOh wow Lin! Such a beautiful card! Gorgeous colours too. I love Magnolia stamps and always enjoy colouring them. Hee hee, I see you had the same idea with the shrink plastic sentiment....I gave up trying to ink mine and coloured it with a ProMarker pen in the end....fiddly but slightly less messy!! Thanks for playing along with my challenge theme. Sharon xx
