Lexi’s Creations #57 Fancy Folds

At Lexi’s Creations this fortnight we want to see your project with fancy folds.

I had seen a Teepee card in the Magnolia Ink Magazine and decided I would have a go, but actually turn it into a teepee, so have a theme of cowboys and indians for my decorations.

Having made the teepee with 3 sheets of 6” square card folded diagonally and put together I trimmed a semi circle out of the top wish a circle punch, so that I could put some cocktail sticks through so it would look like the poles that support a real teepee, and bound them together with some twine from Stampin’ Up.

Tilda Indian

This first side has Tilda as a native american from the Bon Voyage collection. the swirl is a K&Co acetate.

Tilda Cowgirl

The next side has Tilda as a cowboy from the same collection. Although I think that should be cowgirl! The doily is from my stash and the floral diecut is a Memory Box, and I chose it because it sort of represents a lasso.

Edwin Indian

The final side was a little more tricky. I had to manipulate Edwin (from the 2010 Fairytale collection) a little to remove his robin hood hat and draw an indian headband on him. The somewhat dire decoration with the feathers is meant to be an indian headdress with the beads dangling down but it was extremely hard work trying to stitch through feathers and I lost my patience with it more than once! The bow and arrow charm is from my stash.

All images are coloured with promakers and the edge of the teepee is from K&Co but I forget the name of the collection. The paper is from First Edition. The teepee can be opened and folded flat for postage as I used a velcro button to close it.

A few times I regretted not just doing a teepee card but decorating it as I would any card, as it was difficult to find indian themed things in my stash and flowers and frou frou just didn’t seem appropriate, lol
