Lexi’s Creations # 43 A Bug’s Life

Here is my card for the Lexi’s Creations current challenge which follows the theme ‘A Bug’s Life’.

Lexi 43 A Bug's Life

I created my card using Lexi’s image entitled ‘Mushroom Ladybug’ which can be obtained from Fairy Dust Crafts. We are sponsored by the fabulous image

with a prize of a pack of 5 promarkers.

I printed the image onto watercolour cardstock and coloured it in with a combination of Whisper Brushstrokes pens and Lyra Aquacolours. The cloudy sky I made with Broken Glass DI which I dusted around the edge of an oval scalloped nestie to hopefully look like clouds!

The pink paper came from a freebie cdrom which was available in issue 88 of Quick Cards Made Easy. It was meant to be a series of borders for trimming out but I liked the look of it for a main background. Most peculiar set up as it refused to print anything larger than A5 and there seemed to be no way to access the file directly from the cds as they were in some strange format, but hey ho it was free so I shouldn’t really complain.

The blue floral mat was another freebie from this month’s Quick Cards! I ask you, who needs to buy paper, but of course we all do and it’s my one weakness as Dorcas Lane from Lark Rise would propound!

I created some faux stitching around the edges of the card with a stitch stamp from HOTP and some blue ink.

The greenery was made with various Marianne dies and the little bugs are wooden and they have been in my stash for a very long while. The sentiment came from the fabulous Burl Ives Song from my youth entitled Ugly Bug Ball! What a fascinating voice that man had and what quirky songs he made.

I am entering this into the following challenges:-
