WOYWW 01.09.10

WOYWW 01.09.10 I have seen these dotted about all over the place and this week I decided to show  for the first time what’s on my workdesk. As usual it’s untidy all around the area I work on. I do try to keep that glass cutting mat clear if I can, although it often doesn’t work that way.

I’ve got a couple of images in the process of being coloured and one somewhat damaged inkpad. It’s one of those sticky embossing types. But for some strange reason it’s just disintegrating. Can you see in it’s top right hand corner the foam pad is just falling to pieces. If anyone has any ideas as to what might cause that I would be fascinated to hear them as these things are not exactly cheap.

There is also a mouldy cup of coffee! Must wash that up, was wondering where that cup was, it must have appeared from inside a pile of rubbish about ten minutes before I took the picture. Note the el cheapo storage solutions. Various empty ice cream containers and one I pinched off my Sister yesterday. Made her empty it too. It had those liquitab things for the laundry in it, so now my ink dusters smell delicious.

The set of drawers contains my promarkers. Not a bad storage solution although a couple of the colours could have done with deeper drawers as they get jammed when I pull them out, but otherwise keeps them in colour families and easier to locate.

If you want to join in the fun hop on over to The Stamping Ground, where you will find many more messy craft areas.

Oh well, I guess it’s time I messed it up again.

  10. ooh new desk! Welcome to WOYWW; I suspect that by this time of day you've understood that your desk really doesn't qualify as untidy!! I'm a glass cutting mat owner too - love it. The ink pad....are you rubbing it over stamps? That's the only thing I can think of...if so, just tap firmly, and sorry if that teaches you about egg sucking, I don't mean too. MY DH says the foamy surface would break down in direct light too - but the pad would be dry if that was the case, huh....am as usual, at a loss..but this is a good place to ask, for sure!

  12. Nope. NOT untidy! I think that your embossing pad is like that because you have been wandering downstairs in your sleep and chewing it! (What do you mean, that's no help?? I'm trying, lol!)

  14. That is what I call a very tidy desk. I use the same storage system as you (ice-cream tubs) and find Chinese containers great for small stamps.

  15. Welcome to WOYWW. You are going to love it here. It's quite addictive. I've never seen or even heard of a glass mat before. I'm intrigued.

As for you stamp pad, I'm not a stamper, so that may be why I can explain my problem. I had a gold pigment ink pad get crumbly on me, so I took it back to where I bought it. I was told it was OLD, that's why it crumbled, and they couldn't replace it. I explained I bought it from them and even had the receipt. The owner stuck with the story and I got stuck with a bad ink pad. I hope you have better luck than I. Happy first WOYWW and see you next week.

  16. Ice cream containers as storage. Now that's an idea. Especially the part when we get to empty them... (I will NOT tell my daughter... she doesn't need more excuses for eating ice cream - although this is a really good one, "I'm helping Mommy organize her stuff")

  20. Very tidy desk there! made me laugh about the coffee cup though. No idea about the glue pad as I dont have one - love all the little drawers with your promarkers in - I too use icecream tubs to keep flower soft and glitter in.

  21. Absolutely go and mess it up, I hardly think it qualifies for messy, not compared to some whom I won't mention!! Welcome to the madness too BTW.

  26. Hi Lin

. Your desk is verrrrrry tidy!,the white bucket I use to put the scraps and backing of my double sided tape in when I am at my desk, saves me bending to the bin every five mins lol

  27. Nice to see you here Looby:p Your desk looks fab. Odd the damage to that ink pad, never seen anything like that before... or at least not on an inkpad... it looks like the way upholstery foam disintegrates in old furniture.... seen plenty of that when I used to work in an Upholstery company.
